ARMAX SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: "After a long hiatus, I'm finally back! And not just promising a future creation like I did the last time. No, this time you'll will be delighted with a new Socket Frame AEGAKS unit: IGNIS! This monster took me months to complete, as I wanted perfection. I'm not saying it's 'perfect' or it's the best mech around, but I finally managed to fulfil my desires of a mech. I truly expect you enjoy it as I enjoyed building! Your comments, suggestions and critics are very welcome." - ARMAX Co. CEO Camargo
About this creation
Specifications:
Pilot:Lt. Nicole Briggs
Model N°: 901
Frame: Socket
NickName: IGNIS
Roles: Assault, Recon, Airborne
Weapons: Belt-fed twin .50 cannons; 'AFP-9' Automatic Bullpup Rifle; Teflon coated Katana; 'HS-200 LR' Long Range 200 mm cannon
Development: During Sentai Wars, the SPA cut down several bridges to prevent the robots marching into the sectors. However, this created the need to send units to the battlefields by aerial carriers. The first try resulted in a complete failure: The carriers tried to land in order to drop the units near the ground and were shoot down by robot artillery, destroying the carriers and the units inside that didn't have the time to unload. So a new unit was developed to be an aerial drop unit: Model 901 "IGNIS", the first Socket frame model to be mass produced. The Socket frame was chosen because it reduce the friction during the drops and the chest armor encase the pilot block, protecting it further than other frames. Although being a drop unit, it's not flying capable; the thrusters are basically to slow down the unit free fall.

Lt. Nicole Briggs from the 21th division of Mobile Mechanized Armors. A brilliant strategist, graduated with honor in the Academy. Born in 2098 in New Saxonia, former England. Moved to Japan at age four (just two years before the Great War) because her father was a great pioneer mech engineer. When the war ecloded, her father was considered top priority and the family moved to an anti-nuclear shelter. When the fog spread over earth surface, they were moved to the Sentai Mountain where she later joined the SPA.

HS-200 LR - LR stands for 'Long Range'.

The cannon fires 200mm slugs that can open a hole in most robots armor.

AFP-9 Automatic Bullpup Rifle - This rifle is inspired by two rifles: FAMAS and P90.

This is the same Katana used by AEGAKS 907 'Ronin'. It's so badass that I used it again.

How closer to perfection did you want to get? I think it's near impossible! Very nice machine. Pp
Perfection comes with practice. And man, I practiced a lot with this one! I rebuilt it at least 10 times the torso until I decided to make it Socket Frame. Thanks for commenting!

@Luiz You misunderstand. I run Linux. I literally *cannot* use LDD. I could try and emulate it with the WINE windows emulator but who knows how well that'd work out.
Oh, I see. Maybe you'll have trouble with the VGA driver in the VM (for 3D renderization) but it's a nice try. |

It's a beauty of a Aegaks mech without a doubt. I have a question though, it looks like the underarm machine guns get in the way when using the other arm weapons, do they? If they do maybe you could make them flip backwards or instead attach them to the hips. At least that way if the unit lost its arms, it could still use those guns while making a hasty retreat. Just some food for thought.
A good point. In fact, the machine guns are removable like the other weapons, but I forgot to remove when taking the photos. I made the weapons "modular" so you can configure the unit for every mission or multiple roles in a squad (Light Infantry/Recon - AFP-9 + Katana or Heavy Gunner/Support - MS-200 LR + Twin MG's). However, I tested the use of the Katana with the MG's mounted and it works nicely, as the MG's are mounted off center. |

Woot! I've always been terrible at conventional BFG-style weaponry so I definitely appreciate the help. Though, I think what I need more is for people to send me *actual* LEGO because, as my latest WIP would indicate, I never have enough! XD
Done! I've posted IGNIS' Weapons LDD file. You may notice that are some weapons not featured in IGNIS due to lack of parts. Use or modify it as you wish (credits are good though...) |

Man... wish I could use LDD. Oh well, guess I stare at the pretty pictures until I figure it out myself. :p
Just download it and install. Click in the LXF file and it'll open in the LDD. Easy.

Awesome AEGAKS. I think I like that BFG best though :p Any chance of a tutorial on BFGs? I could use the knowledge for when I finish what I'm working on and need to equip it.
Course! Give me a day or two and you'll have it. |

Excellent AEGAKS! I just love that bullpup rifle, it's very well designed. The cannon looks good too with the shells on the side and the folding mechanism, has a little Armored Core feel to it and that katana...I might try a similiar design later on because it looks awesome! The overall shape of the whole unit is perfectly in proportion, however I think that the head is a bit too simple looking compared to the rest of the MOC. I say, slap a wrench or socket wrench on the side for an antenna and it'll be perfect!
Indeed, the head is a bit simple. In fact it's Marte head without the yellow thing. I thought about the antenas, but prefered to maintain the design "clean". About the cannon, I think it's a good time to give credits: the cannon is loosely based in your YMS-16M Xamel( http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/293648). Of course, your's a way better than mine, but I tried. Thanks for commenting! |

Nice work on the weapons of this unit, and I like how you showed it reaching and grasping the Blade from its mount, make the design feel more thought out.
Thanks man! Most of my mechs are posted static despite of being very well articulated (I'm too lazy to pose them and some pieces fall off when posing...) so I wanted to show a bit of IGNIS' poseability. |

Nice build as always! Especially love that 200MM cannon at rear! Those ammo is really touch!!
Thank you CCY! The cannon is an adaptation from Marte's cannon ( http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/294865). I didn't have the pieces to build the same cannon, so I improvised: the removable ammo was added, the barrel is more detailed and less bulky and (not seen in the pics) have a port to eject the empty shell in the other side. So, the lack of pieces was a good thing then. |

Such a gorgeous build. I especially like that cannon. And of course the Katana is a win. ^Blub^
Arigatou gozaimasu sensei! Originally, I'd use the dragon sword from Kyrius, but the design was too much "anime" and I didn't wanted that effect in IGNIS. Soooo I reused Ronin's Katana adding a small sheat to store it. |

Very sexy. The pilot block's slot is nice, looks like it would fit very snugly. The firepower is also nice, looks very heavy.
The pilot block fit very tightly and the 1x2 plate in the front guarantee that it won't slide. The chest went through several modifications until I decided to make it 'Socket', specially because the arms were loose because of the weight. The Socket frame fix it with a 1x8 plate holding the arms together. This simple modification made the arms incredible sturdy, ideal for posing with the weapons. |
