This is my entry for the "Biblical 6x6 Contest!" It depicts Jonah in the belly of the fish. The Bible does not specify whether the fish was really a whale, but it is commonly thought so. When in Rome, right? Now on to the build!
About this creation
It was quite difficult coming up with a biblical scene that could be easily portrayed on a 6x6 base-plate, but in the end I think Jonah worked pretty well. Here Jonah is sitting on the fleshy insides of the "whale". The fishes ribs jut up behind him. I also tried to make all the colors compliment each other.
Biblical 6x6 Contest!

But the Lord provided a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish for three days and three nights. (Jonah 1:17, NIV)

The build minus the fish and fig.
Thanks for viewing!
Soli Deo Gloria!

Amazing! I know this story from age of 3 I think :) Hey , why won't you run the LoTR Trilogy contest again? I loved it and I think many people would be interested in competing in it.
The LOTR Trilogy Contest probably will have a re-run, but right now there's something bigger in the works that has about a 90% chance of happening. Ponder that, if you will... =D |

Great MOC! ~I'd just like to point out, though the Bible translation says "fish", the ancient Hebrew word for fish also means whale.
Which is, no doubt, why it's commonly thought to be a whale. But there's no way to know for certain (in this life anyway)! =D

Would that fish be the demonic beast Leviathan, of whom I have heard in many black metal songs?
I highly doubt it, the bible just refers to it as a fish. I don't listen to "black metal" songs either, so I'm pretty clueless in that genre! =D |

Truly excellent, Ian! One of my favorites our yours recently! A had an idea for you. Why not get a Flickr account? There is an excellent community over there, with some great possibilities. I've gotten about five times as many views on Flickr as I have on the 'Pages(it's not all about views, of course, but they do count for something), and the ability to "favorite" a picture is one of my all time favorites. Just an idea for you to consider. But don't think I just showed up here to say that! Honestly, this MOC is great. The dark red immediately struck me as an excellent choice. Great work! Sorry for the long comment. ;)
Hmmm, Ru Corder just suggested the same thing. I'm considering getting Flickr, but I'm not sure yet. Thanks for the comment though! |

Geeze, you crank out these bible mocs so fast! You seem to be really into this biblical theme, I should start calling you Brother Ian, or maybe Reverend Ian? :P just kidding. Jokes aside, this is a very clever little moc. I enjoy how all of your latest mocs have very nice colors that compliment each other and look very realistic. The overall feel/mood is great, I hope to see more in the future!
Thanks very much Ben! And as for titles, I'll settle for: Pope Ian the first. Heh, just kidding. Thanks again for stopping by! |

Neat little vignette! Creative idea. I like the rib bones. But shouldn't they be white?
-LB Senior
I didn't do the rib bones white for two reasons: (1) the green seemed like a more deep sea marine color and (2) they would have been lost against the white background. Thanks for commenting though! |
