A Lego Gas Station originally done in 1996 and recreated in 2012. I made this gas station before we had a computer. Because of the isolation my creations looked very different from official Lego sets. The cars you see here are the ones that actually I had at the time I made the gas station.
About this creation
A Lego Shell Gas Station I built originally around 1996. At the time I had few references on how to build a Lego Gas Station. Even though I had the pieces of set 6378 Shell Gas Station I had lost the instruction manual since 1987! The only thing I had as a reference for the Gas Station you see here in the pictures was Lego Catalog from 1990 that I kept from when I purchased the firefighter ship set 4020. Which is why if you notice the column that supports the roof is nothing more than the column for the ship 4020! At the time I thought it looked cool!
I remembered my Shell Gas Station had these light fixtures. Official Lego Gas Stations never came with light fixtures.
By 1996 I had lost both of the gas pump hoses from set 6378 that my parents had purchased me in 1987. In 1995 however I had purchased a Lego "Octan Gas N Flyer" set by order mail catalog and that one came with a hose but it was a Green Octan hose. It looked ridiculous on my Lego Shell station but thats all I had at the time!
The gas station had a yellow fire extinguisher. At the time I was a fan of the Octan Gas Station set 6397 and wished I could buy it. So when I made the gas station you see here its clear that the bottom part resembled the Octan gas station while the top was inspired on the Shell Gas Station.
