GAIA Patterns/What is GAIA
For my GAIA friends, new and old, just a neat, simple run through the basic theme colours...
About this creation
In response to discovering hostile aliens in the year 10,008 AD, European leaders formed the Galactic Anthropic Imperial Armada - GAIA.

GAIA absorbed 1/3 or all signatary world's fleets which it added to its own standing fleet, and called this EARTH FORCE. A collosal collection of vessels, it is split into many factions and used in a variety of roles, primarily as a stop gap at vital battle fields across the galaxy. These are painted with red hulls and blue bodies. You can see the standard Earth Force uniforms inset.

The ships GAIA did not commandeer from other signatary worlds, remained the sovereign fleets of their sovereign worlds, who though under the broader banner of GAIA, were free to look to their own defense as a first priority. These fleets were referred to by Earth as EXO FORCES. These ships are painted with red hulls and grey bodies. Uniforms differ from EARTH FORCE also, as depicted on the insets. Also, these ships will usually bare the emblem/flag of their home world in addition to usual GAIA markings.

***Exploriens were the uniform suggested by Marc Runde for GAIA, and though I stuck with ResQ Team, I really liked Exploriens myself and so here we are... Both uniforms are part of GAIA! lol...

Here are explained the symbols used on GAIA vessels, from battleships to fighters.

Below is a rough depiction of various uniforms and the rank they hold. The Emperor is all commanding though the Director has almost equal power, and can order all military personal himself, only supercedable by the Emperor hiimself; as depicted by the height at which their respective mini-figs appear on the board.

While fighters bare the relevant symbols always, their colours follow no standards and are upto the individual nations or worlds producing them. Some other artists have contributed as listed. Thanks guys :)

Battleships by other artists, as listed. Note in the earlier days, as shown by the examples produced by Crimso and Shannon, GAIA was using grey hulls rather than red. This can be explained when we look at my original GAIA concepts, most of which I had done on LDD, because I had so little Lego at the time. Later, as the newer colours became static, Aidan Bryant and Rabid Goldfish built wonderful examples as seen above.

*** P.S. Rabid Goldfish and Aidan Bryant. Guys I had edited these in shop correctly, but for some reason, the darned spelling mistakes re-appeared!I must have stuffed that up somehow. Apologies, I will correct this as soon as I can :)

**** Please notify me if anyone doesn't wish to see their pics on another's page, I will be happy to edit them out. Cheers :)

And this is why you will sometimes see non standard colours throughout the GAIA-verse, lol. In any case, I have been sticking to the newer colour scheme as detailed at the top of this page.

I hope all this helps anyone trying to put together their first GAIA vessel.
Thanks all,
and long live GAIA!!!

PART TWO

'What is GAIA' used to have it's own page, but I felt it would be best if the information was all in one spot :)

The Galactic Anthropic Imperial Armada is a trans-galactic alliance of human worlds formed in the year 10008 AD in response to the discov-ery of, and subsequent war with, an alien empire known as the Draggonne – a wicked reptilian race who dwell in black holes and have already enslaved half of the Milky-way at the time of first contact with humanity.

***The royal family, His majesty the Autocrat Admiral Phillip Basil III, (branching left)flanked by his wife Irina, the young prince Leon, (branching right) and daughters princess Katerine (heir to the throne, whose abduction by the Draggonne inspires humanity's greatest ever assualt), princess Talia (to become Star-girl), and Phillip's brother Michael.

European nations, in conjunction with Russia, Australasia, South Africa, Greater India and Japan, and their respective colonial worlds throughout the Milky-way – totaling 246 planets – have pledged their allegiance to the autocrat admiral Phillp III, in the common cause of protecting human claims throughout the galaxy.

Two other human factions are also prominent in space and fight their own wars against the Draggonne, and any other recently discovered alien race that happens to try infringing upon human sovereignty. They are the Peoples Republic of Greater China, which represents all Asia save Japan and some 67 planets, and Am-Space which represents all the Americas, and 52 planets, ruled by democratic government in Washing-ton.

***An example of Am-Space fighters on patrol on Earth above, and an

Technically, all three factions are aligned in fighting for humanity’s survival, but the truth is, each serves its own ends.
Once the agreements had been signed, G.A.I.A’s first fleet was formed, simply, by absorbing one full third of every signatory’s world’s standing fleet, into a gigantic common fleet ruled by Phillip III, from Earth.

All signatory’s remaining fleets were then ranked in accordance to size, and split in two, one flotilla tasked with protecting their home world at all times, and the other, patrolling planets designated space, and as-sisting if need be, any neighbor world in trouble, hence galvanizing lines against the alien threats. It was the task of the first fleet, to be the tip of the sword in any major action, incorporating those relevant fleets around it; dependant on what sector of space the action was being engaged.

The second fleet - Earth’s own standing fleet, almost the same size as the first fleet - does in dire situations send a flotilla out of Earth space to help in important actions. The planet is also heavily guarded by Am-Space and China Space, and hence the risk is generally small. Any worry GAIA might have as to its brethren trying to conquer its earth stakes while half of its fleet is away, is tempered by the fact that the terra-formed worlds of Mars and Venus are themselves G.A.I.A worlds, their im-pressive fleets always at the ready.

***The Autocrat Admiral and his daughter/heir flank the royal seal of G.A.I.A which depicts the Earth, the alliance, justice and Christ.

We can see Emporer Phillip Basil at the top, his daughter heir Katherine and Director Levens next, followed by the emporers 2nd daughter Talia (Star-Girl, next to him.

Then we have Sky Martial and Field Martial, with their political counter parts to the far right, Earth Prime Ministers and Colonial Geo Lords. These are all on equal par.

Then we have ministers, ambssoders and political staff
Cpatains, Luietenants, Fighter Jocks - Res Q Team = Earth force - Explorien means Colonial forces, then general staff,

Also their are military ranks down to privates, and space marines and space walkers

I think it is all clear when you look at the pyramid nature of the layout.

Rank is determined by hieght on the board and translates across political, naval, military and general staff as displayed.

These are some non GAIA uniforms, including Bretonica Captain, Bretonica Officer, Bretonica

Avery interesting universe! I have a few questions though, as pictures are gone from uniformss, who have which uniforms? Also do all EXO force ships look the same, with the same uniforms, and colours? Are blue and grey ships now obsolete?

Haha, thanx for noticing! Yes, the grass over the legs just blended it in so well. That is one my best ever pics I'd say, and a previously unreleased side shot of that AMIST Moc. Cheers Marc :)

By the way, I don't remember if I mentioned it, but the ESC main ground forces are mecha. They have space deployable models too. I hope this won't conflict. If so, then I'll work something out. Long Live GAIA. ^Blub^

Quoting Paul Romano I'm a sucker for detailed, well-thought out worlds, and yours is amazing! The style you set is simple and easy to follow, but leaves so much open to innovation and imagination. One of these days, I'm going to try my hand at a GAIA warship; I need an excuse to cut my teeth on a SHIP anyways :P Thanks for all the info!
You hit the nail on the head Paul. I wanted at once a theme that offered ridgidity and flexibility at the same time. Like you said, their are the established colours, but there is SO much room for alternate colour schemes. (After all, GAIA just covers the European worlds and nations - their is AM-Space among other orginisations in existance also, which I probably should have explained. Perhaps that will be the follow up Moc.) Thanx for the feed back :)
