I wanted to build the most exquisite old-timer vehicle in a pretty large scale and the decision was pretty easy. Ever since I stumbled upon this model I wanted to build it and I am very glad I did. It took me a lot of time, energy, planning, not to mention new bricks because it is a large model and you can't not build it's engine and cockpit as well. I can't say I am 100% satisfied with it because I couldn't seem to find the appropriate bricks to emphasize the curves and all the real features but I believe I did pretty good here. I tried my best and I believe that should be enough. One thing that was a pretty wrong decision was putting the shock absorbers on it. I put 4 Unimog's and I even put the tight rubber bands but it is not enough to support the weight of the back side. No wonder. The bastard is 60 cm long. What I am proud of is the choice of colors. This car in reality you can't find on internet in any other color than black. I wanted to make it a bit sporty and this is what came out. I hope you like it.

Well done. Very nice curves. It must have taken a lot of planing, building, tearing down and rebuilding if it is anything like my process. Not being 100% satisfied will keep you striving for perfection. You are probably your worst critic. Oh, you will never know. Maybe I like what I dod the minute I do it but the next day it's different story. You got that right, friend. By the way sorry for the late response. :))

Epic! What's the size approximately? (please...) : )
Thanx 4 the praise. Anyway you should've read the text underneath the main pic. There is the info about it. It's about 60cm in length. :))

You hooked it together old school, with hinges and bricks, not trickery and it payed off. It's refreshing to see these kind of builds compared to the same Porsche after Porsche. Great build. |

I'm no car expert, so I can't tell how accurate this is but it looks spectacular to me. The size of it really enabled you to go to town with some great detailing. I liked the window wipers and front grill especially, although the whole shape of the car was well done. This is a great build, thanks for sharing. |

What a superb build! The scale and detailing is fantastic. Nice colour choice too, although I'm not so sure about the integration of the stripes on the bonnet. That aside, a killer a MOC, and the first photo is epic! 5 stars and congrats on getting on the front page of The Lego Car Blog too |

Old school and still so awesome! I love that paint, I could see Al Capone owning one in the same color. All that's missing is a Tommy gun in the trunk. Fantastic build. A true gem. ~cheers |

Yes, that is exactly what I think as well. I'd rather do models that no one does than do Porsches and Ferraris and Lambos and in the scale that no one does :)) thank you and others for comments!

Following my comment below. Even better the second time around. This is a sensational build. There is so much to say but what really stands out for me are the front fenders, the grill, and the engine details. Oh by the way, you’ve been blogged http://thelegocarblog.wordpress.com/2012/04/11/old-timer/ |

Why, of course. I mean it is useless to use custom ones on this model. I mean look at it. It doesn't have much glass in the first place :))
