Den lille Havhingst
I build this for my Viking ship project on Lego Cuusoo. I used the original Lego Viking ship set and modified it according to the blueprints I got from the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, Denmark.
About this creation
The idea was to bring an authentic Viking ship to Lego® rather than the one existing set with a fire place on a wooden (!) ship and those strange guns. Also, I'm a great fan of the Havhingsten fra Glendalough, the replica of a Viking ship built around 1042 in Glendalough near Dublin. If you would like to see Lego® release it as a proper set, please support my project on Lego® Cuusoo.
Here's some more information on the Museum's homepage.

And
here's a video I made on Youtube.

My sister made the sail from ordinary yellow cotton. She dyed the red stripes with beet root, which was my idea. I wanted to keep it authentic by using plant dye.

There are still four pieces missing and the rigging isn't made from Lego string, but in that length, it is difficult to find.
The sail can be stroke and the mast laid to rest like on the real Havhingsten. This makes it easier for the rowmen and women.

Those two images are WIP when a lot of pieces were missing and I used a simple white cloth for the sail.
