==BATTLESTAR VALKYRIE THE BUILD==
BY REQUEST and some fun
About this creation
==IN THE BEGINNING==

I always start with the front of the build and that will determine the dimensions stay fairly proportional.

Starting on the middle section and now it feels like I am getting somewhere..... so I thought!!!!!!!

==THE MAIN HULL==

I employed some extra muscle to assist with the build

==THE BELLY OF THE BEAST==

Here are a few images of the underside of the Valkyrie showing the detail and colours of all the elements used

When I constructed the underside the first time... to me it was the best. I turned it over for the first time and strait away it told me that it was too weak and flimsy to continue so I had to flip it over again and reconstruct the entire inner workings from the front to the back...

After these images I had to rip it all apart and rebuilt the underside frame and strengthen the inside. One can not say how heavy it was going to be..

THE BUILD CONTINUES....

==THE LANDING BAYS==

The main hull is approaching completion as the landing bays is showing its skeleton

The outer hull is on and the ship is taking place

==THE ENGINES OR BOOSTERS==

I had four attempts at this engine design to get the shape as curved as it can be without looking stiff and rigid and to look smooth and flowing ..

==BEFORE THE SHOOT==

In thee garage getting ready to place in the gig to raise it onto the stand

On the stand

A great mess in the background

Here are some fun partly edited images. The stars blaze through the canvas

Quoting Topher Adams I envy you sir. It would be great to have the time resources to build like this. However, I sincerely doubt I could ever be as great as you!
Thank you Topher for your generous praise. I have 40 years of collecting Lego behind me and in time you may also be better than I am and I will happily look forward seeing more impressive works of yours.

Quoting Robert Heng Garry, you are awesome man. Love the models. Makes me itch to try my own. How do you decide which parts to get for them?
Thank you Robert for your PRAISE. I hope you will give these a try and create them for your self. I place the parts down on the build for the best aesthetically pleasing to my eye and purchase elements from BRICKLINK. Hope to see your monstrous builds soon. Cheers.

Quoting JS Can Having never built a SHIP like this, how do you make sure that your odd colored innards won't show? It would suck to have a green brick in the main structure that all of a sudden needs to be changed to bley.
Thank you JS for your comment. The odd colours are often used for the inner construction mostly. Sometimes the odd reflected colour appears in an image I just move the camera to another position and sometimes colour the offending mishap.. Thank you for the question. Cheers

Quoting christophe corthay FANTASTIC !!! I'm sure, you had so much fun to build this wonderful ship and thank you to share. You were lucky to not have "troubles" when you returned it, it happens all time for me so I decided to start by the bottom now..... I'm jealous when I see the space you have and I think that you should do it bigger.... It seems so small in your garage....
Greetings fellow macromoccer. Always a pleasure getting a comment from the other Master of extraordinary spaceships. I did think to start on the bottom but then I would have made it weird. I try to get the scale by starting with the front then work back to get the proportions right. It is good having a 4 car garage. A real bonus..... The house lets the builds down as it is rather small in room size and the construction room work space is 3m x 3.3m. The Valkyrie took up most of the space as you saw in the images. Thank you for your comment and I am glad you liked it. Cheers for now..... Your new new build is so majestic and menacing at the same time ... PURE wonderfulness.

Thank you Thomas. Glad you approved. The images at the time were correct but as I find a fault it get pulled apart and rebuilt all over again. There are many inconsistencies in the images.. Thank you again. Cheers

Quoting Mark Kelso So much fun to see the building process! I don't know if you and I will ever run into one another at a convention or something, but it would be a treat to talk with you about some of the challenges involved with building on this scale. Meanwhile, thanks for taking the time to post these WIP shots - I enjoy seeing them almost as much as the finished creation!
Greetings Mark as usual always a pleasure receiving a comment from you. One can never tell what the future will bring, I would have to fly from the small back waters of Australia . I am glad you liked the presentation. I usually leave the build process on the brickshelf site. Cheers

Quoting El Barto ! Great to see the progression. I like those blended shots, too. Especially that first one, your garage looks like Scorpia Shipyards!
Your Welcome El Barto the great. The only hard part is to select which image to use with 2500 images taken it is not easy. My garage is Scorpia Shipyard after the attack.. A mess.... Cheers

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Incredible, those half edited shots are majestic! Thank you for showing this insight into your building, I enjoyed seeing the transition of rough interior design to smooth finished product. You've probably said this somewhere, but how long did it take to build? Great work!
