I understand. The Union already had cool gadgets (USS Monitor for example) so you decided to give the other side one. Still a great build!

Oh no! My intent was certainly not to promote slavery! I just wanted to do an alternate history MOC with a steam punk feel and the civil war is a historical period that is highly underrepresented in LEGO creations. Besides, the union has Abraham Lincoln, vampire hunter, on their side!

I really enjoyed this build. Your landscape was great, your floating ship was unique, and the walkers added an extra treat. Excellent job here.

Yeah, this was definitely meant to be a more lighthearted and simple build. I like to alternate complex and serious builds with experimental and fun ones. That gives me a chance to expand my repertoire and rest a bit. This particular build was used as a chance to experiment with some landscaping and effect techniques as well as play with technic parts. They will all come in handy for my upcoming projects.

I think you are right, the head on the figure head was meant to match the color of the arms, as if it were made with silver and gold plating, but you can't see the arms, so the effect doesn't really work. Thanks for your comment on the explosion.

Nice work. I like the detail of the battle scene. The walkers are a great touch. As if seeing a flying ship come after you wouldn't be enough! I would change the head of the figurehead to a gray piece to match the outfit so it doesn't look like a person. I also haven't seen many explosions made from blocks. They arer most often editied in so your design looks really good.
