When humans fall, the Minder is quick to collect information from the carcasses. Ideas and concepts are invaluable to the Minder, and just because the individual possessing the knowledge is living, doesn't mean the Minder won't stop at nothing to take it. Objects are of little value to the Minder, except for the kind it can't relate to. A lack of emotion nullifies the essence of something like a teddy bear, or a book trying to convey foreign concepts.
About this creation
Max, for comparison.
The Minder has three main tools, other than its enormous brain. A stun gun, a gun, and a tool for extracting thoughts. The yellow eyes of the Minder are directly above the tools.
The backpack, where the Minder stores the objects he finds novel, or trivial.

I doubt that an ACTUAL thought broker came on this site, then had a discussion about your creation . It was probably some fellow MOCer who heard of Thought Brokers before and thought it would be funny (and it was) to imitate them.
Then again I have been wrong before...
Just an Idea.
I don't know. I thought of that, but some of the dialogue makes me think otherwise.

I could be wrong, but I think that company had some issues... Awesome moc though, I really love the idea and it has got me thinking. I thank you for the new flow of thoughts that has begun to spin in my head. thanks, again. if you're into irony and that sort of thing, you'd probably like most of my stuff. some stuff might be hard to understand without explanation, but I like to see who can figure it out without any.

Just read that whole discussion. I really have no idea why they care so much. Maybe they think this thing will attack their clients, hmm?
have you ever seen that robin williams film, 'toys'?

Unbelievable. One can only wonder at how uptight this company is! I'm going to call my next space craft the Starbucks Planet Destroyer and see what happens.

Hi Cath, we certainly didn't mean to imply we are litigious - quite the reverse, we were looking for a solution which acknowledged our claim to the name in case of confusion without curbing your creative freedoms (coincidences happen!). Also, we like your lego. So please accept our best wishes for the future. Well, thank you, but I still find it kind of awkward that something made out of lego might possibly be damaging to a business. It's...a toy. And I usually don't even have a name for what I've made until I'm posting it. I used to play magic, that's mainly where the influence of certain combinations of words come from. I remember a few like "spawn broker", or "lore broker".

Hi Cathy, no, I'm just reaffirming our trademark without taking away your right to create things and coincidentally use a name attached to our business. I think of this as a way much preferable to getting all litigious, don't you? But when people google us (as you could have) and find your lego, I'd like them to know that a Thought Broker is more than this. Wishing you the best with your future creations! Parnell I used the name because I've always liked the word "broker". I originally intended to call it thought "collector" or "harvester". I don't make any money from what I make, nor do I want to. It is just art.

Hi Cathy,
Nice, though perhaps a bit colder and more blood-thirsty than we see ourselves!
This is what a humanoid Thought Broker looks like www.thoughtbroker.com.au
Best,
Parnell (a real life Thought Broker) I realize you're simply advertising your trade, or what have you. But it seems you've missed the point entirely. |

We kind of do what you say - ideas and concepts are valuable and we act as brokers, communicating them via media and other platforms to a broader audience, and positioning their originators as 'thought leaders'.
This site won't let me post a link, so google us! (Oh, and of course we have, as you say, enormous brains ;-)). I'd like to say though, the things I make might require reading between the lines. Just because something kills doesn't mean there isn't some sort of over-arcing irony or allusion in the background.

Hi Cath,
Nice, though we don't think of ourselves as quite that cold or blood-thirsty!

Parnell (a real-life Thought Broker at Thought Broker Events and Publicity) What is a real-life thought broker? When I come up with names, it's not usually in direct reference to anything.

I mention Akira for this one specifically because of the extreme mutation. In a similar way, I would imagine by the time the machine can understand emotion, the brain will have enveloped the body, thus killing the Broker. |
|
|
Ah I see, so the brain doesn't symbolically flower, it literally expands out; can I say it metaphorically flowers - I think I can :). The Akira reference helps a lot too. |

The blossoming flowers in the domes of the Broker's back are a nice touch. Does he literally sprout ideas? So many questions unanswered: who does he trade with, and for what? And are the emotionally charged objects collected, because the broker cannot understand them?; And is this lack of understanding of the emotional charge of teddy bear more valuable to him than the stolen ideas and concepts he brokers in? Thanks for making me think again, and for delivering such a beautifully constructed little MOC. The only thing a machine like this would want to trade for is an understanding of emotion, so yes. An understanding is more important. The flowers aren't symbolic though, the Broker doesn't generate anything. The pink pieces are supposed to represent his brain, overflowing. If you've ever seen Akira, that might explain a lot of the things you see in my creations. Jacob's Ladder, and Akira are pretty heavy inspirations, for me.
