Halo Pillar of Autumn
This is a microfig model of Captain Keyes's ship, the Pillar of Autumn, from the PC and X-Box video game, Halo - Combat Evolved.
About this creation
The minifigs shown here were made using DECAL (STICKER) designs custom-drawn by me. I now provide a printing service for these decals HERE.

Originally posted 11/14/2003, my miniaturized Pillar of Autumn is
perhaps the very best of my original Halo line of creations. I started
building it on a whim, when I noticed that the three wedges on the front
looked like the front of the Autumn when put together that way. The end
result turned out a lot more accurate than I ever really imagined it
would. Just compare the two images above.

Halo begins on the Pillar of Autumn, after Captain Keyes has enacted the
Cole Protocol by making a random slipspace jump instead of returning to
Earth, to keep the Covenant from finding the human homeworld. Where does
he end up instead? You guessed it: Halo.

The PoA is quite an ugly slab of metal, and I thought so as soon as I
saw it. But after building it in LEGO form, I guess I've gained a bit
more appreciation for it and like it a bit better now.

Warning: You are taking damage from engine wash!

Just a random Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter reference there.

Some people tell me my Pillar of Autumn isn't long enough. I think it's
about right, myself, but whatever - it's close enough anyway.

The Pillar of Autumn is heroically sacrificed in Halo's awesome ending
sequence, which involves riding a Warthog down the spine of the vessel
as explosions tear through the hull all around you, and the Halo theme
rocks on in the background. Man, it was an awesome ending. Much cooler
than the sequel's, unfortunately.

If you're trying to build this hunk of bricks and find yourself curious
as to how I stuck all those slopes on the sides like that, here's a pic
that should help you.

"What have I done, Bones? What have I done?" - Oh, wait, that's from
Star Trek...

In reply to ghgt: You're supposed to be writing a review for the LEGO, not the video games. :-P And I think you got your numbers backwards. Halo 1 had an awesome ending with a thrilling Warthog ride down the exploding Pillar of Autumn that ended with the destruction of the first Halo ring and a great feeling of victory, with due expectation of a sequel. Halo 2 ended with a flat cliffhanger leaving no feelings but empty disappointment and desire for a sequel just for some decent closure.

Nice amount of details on such a small frame, but it is WAY to short, not even close to what it should be. Try elongating the hinged part of the build by four, maybe six studs and it will look MUCH better.

Vary good job! It looks just like the real thing. I'm not really the biggist Halo fan, I love the story, charictors, and vehicles, just I hate how it switches to third person when you get in a Vehicle. Keep up the good work!

I must say, this is completely magnificent. Its very accurate to the real Autumn in Halo and has all the details in with it. All of your creations are the best Halo creations i've ever seen! I was wondering if you could make Halo Wars creations like Sergeant Forge or make the Gremlin or some sort of cool creation. I was also wondering if you were into the Gears of War Universe? (GearsVerse) Im sure if you made Gears of War Minifigs and creations, they would be the best on mocpage, brickshelf, every lego creation website. Thanks, Tim

I love the PoA. I noticed that at the beginning of the game, the ship didn't look that long. but in the last level, it's like 3 F-ing MILES LONG!!(2 to get to foehammers pickup, and 1 to get to the hanger.) it was redonkulus! anyway, i love the PoA and its ability to grow twice as large. Good Job Scorp!

Justin, that was a pretty lowly review you gave J F on his Pillar of Autumn. I think its obvious that his is not inspired by yours (SIZE!), so why would you expect him to mention you? Hes was a bit upset by it. Way to make yourself look like an ass.

Nice mix of textures, though I'd prefer to see it a little smoother. Angle and slope work is excellent. The best way to make a pipe is with a hex wrench (http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/6246d) and a 1 x 1 round plate. Er, I assume that's what sort of pipe you're talking about. It'd be weird if he was just carrying around a bit of plumbing.

This is amazing! the only flaw, though minor, is that it is a little bit too short. But it definitely isn't a monumental problem. MOC of the DAY! (1/12/07) Congrats!

Even though I originally saw this as a thumbnail halfway across my room, I immediately recognized this. You managed to get good detail in a fairly small piece. It would be great to see what you could do with an extremely large-scale piece! Very good work.

I remember this. This was how I first saw Saber-Scorpion's Lair and the first MOC of yours I ever saw. That was about two years ago, and I still think this is one of your best creations ever, HALO-wise. Is it still assembled? I would never take something such as this apart.

Another excellent Halo Model. However, I normally envision the segment with the greatest width/height to be considerably longer than the others. But that may just be me. I'll take a better look next time I play "the Maw"
