Built with the newest technology, Evo and Nex!
About this creation
Shortly after finishing the Rookie Trio, I got the idea to revamp all 9 members of the Hero Factory roster, sort them in trios and feature them on MOCpages. And since I'm still waiting for the 2012 summer wave for before I'll design the Alpha team, I began to work on the third trio, which will include Evo, Nex and Rocka.
Well, for now, it's still only a duo because I haven't disassembled Rocka XL yet, but sooner or later I'll revamp Rocka. You can look forward to it.
Evo
Evo's design was heavily inspired by Bumblebee - actually, it was inspired by two different designs of Bumblebee, War for Cybertron Bumblebee and Transformers Prime Bumblebee. That inspiration is mostly evident in Evo's arm cannons.

A "zen" pose. You know, just for fun.

The bulky design of his cannons is inspired by WfC Bee's bulky forearms, but he got two cannons like TF Prime Bee.

A detail of his legs. Yes, the design is identical to that of Cheesy's legs (although Evo's lower legs are Toa Metru limbs, not Rahkshi ones).

His arm. And yes, the cannons are attached in the same way as Cheesy's arm shields.

The cannon's themselves are pretty simple. But I think it works well.

His back is loosely inspired by the "wings" of TF Prime Bumblebee.

And here a comparison of Cheesy Q and his long lost brother Evo.
As you can see, Evo is a bit shorter but also far wider than Cheesy, mostly because of the anatomy of the torso. Cheesy's custom torso is sleeker and more narrow, especially around the shoulders.
(by the way, Cheesy's joints were surprisingly stiff. I think I should play a bit more with the MOCs which stand in my showcase...)
Nex
I built Nex just yesterday, and I guess it won't surprise anybody when I tell you that by "building Nex" I mean "building his weapon", since his overall design is so ridiculously simple that I would be ashamed if I would upload Nex as a single entry without his pal Evo.
Since I don't have his 3.0 version, Nex was mostly inspired by his 2.0 incarnation. Several pieces of his equipment were taken from Rotor.

Recreating the pose of his 2.0 Canister.
(Just imagine the background with all the fire and stuff)

KA-BLAM!
The best way to deal with pesky criminals is a two-barreled shotgun.
The idea to use those leg-support-pieces from Rotor as barrels for a cannon isn't mine however. In fact, I saw that some time ago on another Nex MOC. However, it looked less like a shotgun and more like a blaster cannon on that other MOC.
Here a few pics of the shotgun from various angles.

The inner side, which had originally bit more orange. But it was too wide which made it hard to pose close to Nex, so I slimmed it down by removing a few parts.

The outer side. The gunmetal piece is only there to cover a quite visible gap there.

The top view of the shotgun. Adding the blade weapon to it was the most complicated part of the build.

The bottom view of it. It's rather empty compared to the other side, but for a reason: The barrels of the shotgun can be flipped downwards...

...so Nex can punch the baddies with that large blade-thingy for massive damage!

And if you flip the gun barrels only halfway, it looks like he's reloading it.

He got a jet pack on his back. I already used a jet pack on a few other MOCs which I haven't uploaded yet.

And that's it. I hope you like these guys.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not that much into contests. |

Quoting NoWhereMan .
The main difference between Cheesy Q and Evo, Cheesy's better in every way. Anyway, nice revamps. So that leaves Rocka, Bulk, and Stringer right?
Exactly. Rocka will most likely be a bit larger and get a single entry, while Bulk and Stringer will be featured with Stormer - both his current version which was already shown alongside Phoenix Furno and most likely a new version which will be based on the upcoming Stormer XL. |
