The Road Warrior (Mad Max Interceptor)
1973 Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe, Cleveland V8
About this creation

[Edit, 3 Aug 2014]

New version in 6w+ (6w plus mudguards). Sports cars with a 7w+ scheme don't fit into the actual range of widths used in the town project. That's why there had to be a revision of the Road Warrior, too. Changed aspects:

- width reduced from 7w+ to 6w+
- lower roof line (back of the fig must be slanted, but it works)
- exhausts are situated more under the body than before
- tanks dark grey instead of red
- some minor changes

The old version in 7w+:[/Edit]

A 7w interpretation of the iconic ride. Main aspects here:

- The car should get the new mudguards.
- It should have 8 exhaust pipes, since it’s a V8.
- It should fit at least a fig and a dog.

It took some time to just get the front right - this was crucial in terms of starting the build or not. Second issue was the very special silhouette of the Ford Falcon. It turned out quite nicely at last IMHO, but it was impossible to have opening doors with it. Think it’s quite a fair compromise since this increases the possibilities, also in terms of other cars. Mirrors are missing, too - didn’t find a solution for that.

Didn't know Orion Pax’ version (www.flickr.com/photos/orion_pax/3422248512/) at the beginning. He found a similar solution for the front, but I think it’s still an original idea to combine the hinge with the cheese-slopes. You decide.

Thanks for looking.

Really nice, exccelent work. Please, can you tell me in which LEGO set you find de black mudguards? I'm making a black 6-wide car, and I can't find in any LEGO set this black mudguards.

Many thanks Matthew! Glad you like it. Sorry I don't do instructions and I don't use LDD for some reasons. But the build itself isn't that complicated. It is based on the usual 7w wheelbase you can find here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/er0l/6543208445 If you have further questions feel free to contact me via e-mail (see homepage).

LEGO should do a film series with this one as one of the movie sets. Yes, this should be a set! This is so well built yet so realistic! Love it!

Wow, many thanks guys, this is far beyond my expectations, glad you like it that much! @John: You are absolutely right, but I wasn't pleased with that solution. @Scott: I took two pairs of pliers, it is quite easy then. @Tom: I agree, but I think it is appropriate to give credit if you are strongly inspired by a certain MOC. @Joe: Glad to hear that, mate! But they set the standards we try to meet ... @Sven: Perhaps I have seen it with you first, but I thought it was a rather common method. If not, I'll give you credit, of course ... :-)

Excellent job on one of the all-time classic movie vehicles. Looks like you really nailed the contours of the Interceptor. The tanks in the back should be dark gray, but thats my only criticism. Still, nicely done.

Amazing car, even more considering the small scale! The front and back (especially the back) look amazing, but those wheels! I didn't even know it was possible to turn those tires inside out, how did you do that? It killed my thumbs just to do one! Epic Moc!

Love Mad Max and I absolutely love this. Excellent work at this scale as usual from you. The overall shape is spot on but the front is especially good. Yours is the best of the bunch by far. The wheels are very clever and fit very nicely under those new wheel arches. Excellent build my friend :D

Fantastic work Marcus. Looks really nice in every detail. I had the same idea with the tries at my Doppler Radar Truck. It's difficult to turn the inside out. Great job mate. :)
