Hey Bro! I've been meaning to comment, but I wanted to show Alex (the Brazilian who sits next to me at work) before I commented so I could throw what he said about it on here too, and when I went to do it the site was down for some reason and I forgot to get back to it until just now.
This is amazing! I can see how it's out of your comfort zone, and you wouldn't have to give it a title at all or post the reference image for me to know exactly what it is. It's a great choice and a very iconic city and you've done it justice. Well done, Bro! Well done.
BTW, Alex said "That is AWESOME! So cool!" and he wants to buy it to put in his son's room. Let me know how much you'd sell it for. : ) |

This is spectacular! How you did the city, and how it was supposed to be small, you did great! Especially if it is out of your comfort zone! The city looks almost exactly alike! And you used so small pieces too! It looks almost like the real picture! Who is the statue about, Jesus? It looks great though! Keep up the great work! 5/5 :D |

This is really beautiful. You chose a great subject, as the statue gives you a great focal point and adds a lot to the sense of scale. Microscale is tough, and you handled it brilliantly. |

Score = 3. Nice job on the micro work. Solid looking buildings and statue. You lose me a little around the edges with the oversized bushes and the gray baseplate next to the water. Would have been nice to see it finished all the way out with the same attention to detail as the city. Pretty solid though.
Thank you for your comments. The gray base plate and Blue studs on top section were merely to frame in the build and to act as support. Due to a like of parts I used every green piece I had. I feel the bushes were well used to add a texture of trees on a hillside that is why I used them on the side and not more prominently. |

Love the moc but I'm curious; sometimes I see that people are "assigned" themes or moc ideas. Is there some way I could get into a solid group of afol that does that sort of thing? I feel like it'd decrease my stoppages in building which is something I have a problem with. If I was assigned something though I think it'd be fun to try and fit the challenge especially when I'm drawing a creative blank myself. Any info would be appreciated! And again, great moc!

@brick- the "out of your comfort zone contest" isnt a group its a contest to make you a better builder... i dont know if here are any other groups that assign you themes. ( Reply | Delete )

Thanks for the comment. As Nate said this is a contest. They extended the build deadline so you may still be able to get involved. |

I've always been fascinated by Rio... Great FP here, and You kept the cityscape nice and interesting. Great work!
Andre, thanks for the kind comments. It was my first time trying to create a forced perspective. I think that was the biggest challenge. Thanks for taking notice. |

The more I look at this, the more I like it. You have inspired me to recreate one of the Rio buildings. I love the architecture there, and the overall vibe. There are some great pics here http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1096699. Top marks from me, Sorry I'm not a judge lol
I think you would do an amazing job with some architectural builds! Micro Scale worked well for me due to a lack of parts. |

Brody, this is a great cityscape- first or not. I wouldn't give up on them so quickly as you really did a super job on this one.
Thank you. The beauty of it was that the only thing that really need to be accurate was the Christ. Everything else kind of fell into place. If I can find a similar situation I might tackle it! |

I'm in love with this MOC! É maravilhoso as they would say in Brazil! So many fine details, I love the way you portrayed Christ the redeemer on top of Corcovado and the Pão de Açúcar. I'm lucky enough to have spent some time in Rio and had some of the times of my life. This MOC will live long in my memory, where is the Maracana? :-)
My Portuguese isn't that good I had to goggle the Maracana to see what it was. I am glad you liked it. It is certainly gratifying to get a this responce, especially from quality artists like yourself and so many others who were kind enough to comment on this. |
