Deinonychus
Deinonychus was a small dinosaur- about 6 feet tall. these deinonychus are minifigure-sized. feel free to copy.(just give me credit) these deinonychus are also part of my new diorama that is not quite finished yet. deinonychus was covered with protofeathers (sort of like the fluff you can see on a baby chicken.) it most likely had arm feathers, too, but I couldn't find a way to attach them. I have given it a crest of protofeathers on the neck.
About this creation
almost fully posable. I am very pleased with how this creation turned out. Deinonychus is my favorite animal of all time. Deinonychus was also the basis for the "velociraptors" of jurassic park.( velociraptor is more easily pronounced and famous than deinonychus, but not as scary. velociraptor only stood three feet tall.)

note the toe claws. sorry about all the distracting shadows, but i think they look kinda cool.

Quoting Foundations Creation Club Builders Nice model, but I would have to ask why you included 'protofeathers' on it. There have been no fossils in the dromeosaur family which have been found with feathers or 'protofeathers'. Also, there is no process by which the genetic information for feathers could be added to a reptile's genetic code. Mutations only take away information, and they don't add it.
fossils in the dromaeosaur family with feathers? lemme rattle off a few... sinornithosaurus http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=sinornithosaurus&FORM=HDRSC2#view=detail&id=116B4C60B47B5B02644894CCDAFC67BCBF92219E&selectedIndex=19 anchiornis (this fossil happened to be so perfectly preserved that they were able to tell the feather color) http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/02/photogalleries/100204-dinosaur-true-color-full-body-pictures/ sinsauropteryx, microraptor, conchoraptor, citipati, (latter two inferred from pygostyle) dilong (well, it's actually a tyrannosaurid), rahonavis, several species of caudipteryx, yixianosaurus, protarchaeopteryx, sinocalliopteryx, jinfengopteryx, eosinopteryx, nomingia, and similicaudipteryx, to name a few. google 'em if you doubt it.

Quoting Builder Allan Cool! Really nice ideas on this build. The 6 ft. height of the real one would make this build just about minifig-sized :-)
thanks! i used alot of clips connecting to clip pieces on this one. it is sorta fragile, but otherwise i think it's great!

Quoting M2com McKinney Wow this is awesome! Very nice part usage! It would be nice if your pics were clearer and it would be a cool idea to add a some terrain to it! I may need to borrow that design from you (with credit from you)!
I just found the camera so i will be uploading clearer pics of my deinonychus, pteranodon and scorpion mech with better lighting.

Quoting Dave Benson No chance of out-running it I suppose :)
as a matter of fact, deinonychus was faster than most natural modern things, but in the same formation (cloverly, in montana dating from early cretaceous, 100-112 million years ago) was found a species of ornithomimus. ornithomimus apparently was able to reach sustained speeds of around 70 mph.
