This is Revolver Ocelot's torture bed from the Playstation game Metal Gear Solid (or the GameCube game, Metal Gear Solid - The Twin Snakes).

The bed can rise up or lay down, and the lights can swing over Snake's head, just like in the game.

"Press the circle button repeatedly to regain your strength. When you've had enough, press the select button to submit." - Revolver Ocelot
After Sniper Wolf captures Snake, she brings him to Revolver Ocelot, who is more than ready to pry out of him everything that he knows. If you beat the torture without telling Ocelot anything, Meryl lives. If you give into the torture, Meryl dies.

Snake has to go through the torture session at least two times, and even more if he doesn't escape from the holding cell before then.

"Whatever..." - Liquid
I am not sure exactly what the terrorists wish to learn from Snake, but he obviously must know something. Luckily, with either Otacon's or Ninja's help, Snake can escape from the terrorists' prison either before or after telling them what they want.

Listen up n00bs. There is something VERY important you have GOT to do BEFORE you get captured and undergo the torure! Make sure you save the game BEFORE you get captured in that hall where Meryl got sniped! VERY IMPORTANT!
