Its hard finding a place to land and refuel on the cruel cratered surface of the outer reaches. This raised platform allows easy access and refuelling for small hopper craft.

I really like this one, small but really great, especially the landing pad aspect. |

Great stuff, proper retro :) I hope these guys have more luck than the ill-fated Outer Reach Research Team! That red landscape is very alien-looking, absolutely spot on! |

nice little pad! I wonder about the black though, I m sure it would ve looked better another color, great ship, and robot, the landscape hits the spot, it s the red planet! it looks beautiful!
I tried grey for the pad first, but it looked really odd, maybe if i'd had enough yellow and white flashing I could have made it work. In terms of available pieces the only other option was red, which clearly wouldn't have worked. I guess I settled on the best compromise available. |

Great as usual. I am really digging all the playable features and the red landscaping. It must be Mars!
I can't help leaving the back off classic space buildings, it's just the thing to do if you want maximum playability. Thanks again for the comments. |

This would have made an awesome set - they should reboot classic space for us old guys!
I'm sure there's money in classic space still. A special collectors £200 set would have me desperately reaching for the credit card. |

The maintenance robot is great, really looks like that robot from the famous movie poster holding the dead woman in his arms...
I'm always riffing off what I like to think of as pre-Star Wars sci-fi. Glad you like the bot, he's a favourite of mine. |

Excellent, David. I'm really enjoying seeing the different ways you're utiizing these new pieces. The terrain looks great. That requires more skill than those old LEGO sets would have to them, but the rest really looks like something you could buy off the toy store shelf. Nice work on the hopper, and, of course, there's a little place in my heart for the maintenance bot. It reminds me a bit of Robbie from Forbidden Planet. Great work.
The Forbidden Planet reference was intentional, glad you spotted it. You are right, whilst parts of this are fun, it all boils down to an excuse to show off the landscape.

Impressive, I like how alien it looks!
It took a leap of faith to resist building grey rocks; alien was exactly what I was looking for. |

Amazing build, David! I really love this "Classic Space" theme, like Mortal said, I also love the red Mars surface! Overall, I think your building and picture editing have improved with this MOC. Well done!
I took a bit more time over the photos on this and the Retro-Robot I built on Friday. I'm finding those few extra pieces I got the other day is really opening up the doors to some better building too. Thanks for the compliment. |

Yes I love this too. The hopper is very cool and I really like the little robot’s feet hahaha. My favourite bit is definitely the red surface – Mars maybe.
The hopper is an example of how to build a tiny canopied classic space craft. I was very happy with how it turned out. |

Oh, my... I do believe this is my favorite of everything I have seen of yours! That idea to use red as the planetary surface is ingenious! And, even with all that red, this still retains its retro feel! BRAVO! :)
I bought this red base plate, specifically to investigate some Martian adventures. |
