The Iron Wolverine: A Steampunk Rebuild
When a Wolverine crashed onto a planet in its steam age, the Iron Wolverine was born...
About this creation
During a space battle with the Axons, a refit Wolverine was shot down and it crashed on a planet. That planet was in the hight of its steam age, and when thier leading engineers got a hold of the fallen ship. What they created from the wreck was their own version of the Wolverine, that could protect them from Axon attacks.

Sadly, the only thing good from the leftover ship was the frame, and the wings. The ship had to be rebuilt with a wood fired brass boiler, and small turbines to power the giant propellers. Armor was cast for it out of iron, and a steam propelled rotary spear cannon was fixed to the front. A simple box was attached to hold bombs to be dropped in one shot.

In order to keep the ship in comunication with the ground, an entire 2 way vacuum tube radio was installed. To power it, a small dynamo was fitted to the exhaust of the boiler, and four rechargable lead-acid cells are used as backup. Since the radio is AM, a large antenna had to be attached to the top of the plane.

The nose of the craft, reveals the huge propellers.

Those wings were a composite of the upper and lower wings put together.

The tail section of the Iron Wolverine had to be rebuilt from scratch. That bronze pole is the arial for the AM antenna.

Surprisingly, the plane is woodfired, so extra wood is good to have.

Like the bright bronze boiler? That dome at the top is where the steam rises. The air intakes are right behind the propellers, to get better airflow.

Check out the wood bins! The extra wood sits in those crates.

I love those turbines! The big wheel on the side is the engines flywheel. And that barrel? Extra water.

On the underside, we have the simple landing gear. At the bottom the picture is the steam powered spear cannon. At the top, the turbine dynamo charges the lead-acid cells.

Steam powered spear cannons rock, especially when its hooked right up to the boiler!

The cockpit was one of my favorite parts. I really liked those bronze control surfaces. Oh, see that big set of dials? thats the radio... you'll see more in a sec...

Those are all the weapons. Only 8 shots with that spear cannon. In the middle is the box of bombs, and the pilot is holding his cast iron rifle.

The radio was fun to make!

Whoa!!! It's amazing! The ship itself is awesome-but the idea! Very original! Who would have thought of a way to merge steampunk and space themes...nearly opposite eachother? Well done! We should link our universes to eachother somehow...i dont know how but oh well. Respond to me via review, thanks, and great MOC!

Awesome MOC! Steampunk rules! You should spray paint all the yellow pieces into a more bronze color. That'd be really cool.
