A Small Viking Settlement complete with Fortress, Storehouse, Farms and Seaport.
About this creation
Stadhelm, the Viking settlement of the newly crowned King Hrothgar. This small but thriving settlement is the culmination of years of planning and toil by King Hrothgar. Expelled with a small band of loyal subjects from Kristallland by his brother Crown Prince Ethelfred, Hrothgar and his followers began building Stadhelm. Through many years and many raids, Hrothgar and his people built a strong fortress crowned with a glorious, if somewhat small, mead hall. Through his many adventures as captain of the Dragonship "Dunkler Wulf", Hrothgar has gathered fellow warriors to his cause such as Gregor the Mad, Aaric the Red and the wizard, Alric the Wise. With his loyal warrior queen Freya at his side, Hrothgar rules with an iron fist.
The army of Stadhelm has become the most feared in all of the ocean. The great Dragonships lead by prince Thorfin cruise the coasts seeking unwary merchant targets and wealthy villages. Only the Dragonships, Knarrs and Wherries of Stadhelm can navigate the waters of the great North sea unmollested. Only they can return with great treasures, trade goods, raw materials from nearby islands and magical items from vanquished foes.
Through the knowledge and wisdom of Alric, the people of Stadhelm have transformed the once barren Schlafendrache Island into an poduceable land. The bountiful schools of fish provide much of the food for the people while crops and livestock are raised. From high atop Zauberer Mountain, Alric controls the weather for his people and keeps a watchful eye for any inbound danger. His mystical ways make him few friends which suits the hermit mage well. Only coming to the great hall when sent for by the king, many wonder how the wizards survives, taking no food with him as he climbs the mountain trails home.
The many stores of the people of Stadhelm are closely guarded in the fortified storehouse by prince Rogar and his chosen guards. Even in relative peace, the pragmatic people of Stadhelm leave nothing to chance. Nothing goes to waste, even the bones of the great beasts from the sea are used in building the homes of Stadhelm.
Yet clouds grow on the horizon and the wizard forbodes ill. Bright shapes appear on the water in the distance, no one knows what they are or from when they came. No one knows what evil lurks in the shadows on the mountains, nor what has been awaken far within the island. Only time will tell if the people of Stadhelm can weather the coming storms and if the kingdom can survive the immediate future.
Great Diorama, looks like a realistic village and the buildings have good detail. I agree with Lee Jones, the use of the blanket is creative and the location does look like a bleak snow swept hill. Also nice clear photos... in focus. 5/5 from me for an excellent overall effort.
