Following frontier conflict experience, the Illustrious Army of the Albion Hegemony requested designs for a light mech emphasizing mobility and versatility. The Il-7 Artfire was the result.
About this creation
Produced by SUMIT industries, the Artfire easily outclassed designs tendered by other companies due to its carbon nano-fibre armour, giving the same stopping power as 12-inch thick steel plating at one tenth of the weight.
The standard proton accelerator cannon armament can be set either to deliver a single, devastating shot with an effective range of over 2 miles, or a rapid volley of smaller charges. This latter mode enables the Artfire to lay down covering fire while the heavy armour moves into position.
The head module houses advanced targeting and communication systems.
The back armour plates resemble wings but are actually for heat dissipation - the mech is not designed to be capable of flight.
Titanium steel alloy plating on the torso and left shoulder provides additional protection for the pilot.
Builder's notes: This is my first straight (non-transforming) mech, and mostly came out of a desire to do something fun with tan and dark blue elements from Pharaoh's Quest sets I picked up after Christmas! Inspiration-wise it takes a lot of visual cues from the Tau Fire Warriors from Warhammer 40k. Comments always appreciated!
