V.2 OCTUPTARRA Combat Droid . . . part of my new TECHNO-UNION Droid Army. To avoid all confusion, this is the small one seen on Utapau (not the giant TRI-DROID from Christophsis). he's about 2 x minifig height when crouched down, reaching to about 4 x when stretched to the max. each leg has 4 points of movement & the head and guns rotate together. inside the 'head' is a Droid 'Brain' and tiny 'viral cannisters'. Colour has been an issue (see comments below) and i've tried to address that in V.2. it would be great if LEGO made some of these parts in Copper/Dark Tan, but till then i'm happy with Pearl Gold and Tan.

i've made a 'more Brown' version . . . i'll upload pics when i have them. trouble is, i want to combine the Octuptarra with a Crab Droid - & he's mostly Brown too. WAY too much Brown going down . . . Quoting MCLegoboy !

thanks for the comment. i have built a Blue/Grey version . . . CIS colours. it looks good - i'll add a pic when i get a moment. my preference though would be metallic/copper but the parts just don't exist.

hi Jp,
i can see your point about dishes/spheres but they're preferable, at least in my opinion, to the ones that use lots of tiny little bricks - all spiky, heavy and ungainly etc. there's also the added advantage of space 'inside' to add small details (if you look carefully, there's a tiny dome 'brain' & 'Viral Release' canisters inside the Droids head! +, if you take a look at my NEW Dwarf Spider Droid V.2, the hollow spaces left by the spheres there enabled me to recess the Droids eyes and the leg links, lowering the profile, and to attach other details.
i'm glad you appreciate the other details though . . . it's my aim to give these MOC's as much posability (is that a word?) as possible. its nice when people notice.
