Twin cars
1955 Chevrolet Checker Marathon
About this creation
Meet Patty and Selma. The yellow-skinned twins. Already past their best years...

I was quite happy to be able to use the strange 2x3 modified plate with 180║ arc and hole. Demand for that piece es usually... zero┐?

Maybe not quite true to the Marathon line, but I like it...

The car is stuffed with snotty build and half-plate offsets in all directions.
Here┤s a glimspe of some of the details;

The two cabs are 4 studs shorter than the "reference" (for scale) lime cruiser.
Although somewhat bulkier to look at, they ride only half a plate higher than the cruiser.

Thanks for the comments! These cars are my favorites at the moment. They were by far the most ocmplex ones to do; I had to be able to build two of them, and STILL have enough yellow left over to build the typical US-style schoolbus. BTW this car is ALSO a movie-car, as I think Robert De Niro drove one in Taxi Driver. (Please correct me if I┤m wrong...)

Wow, the design is great, some cool SNOT work and half stud offset! The checkered pattern is my favourite detail and I love the use of the "strange" plate. I think Rhys used it for the air intakes on his 5-wide F40, too: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/282270 Great job! :-))

Wonderful cars - as always. You are showing some very clever techniques - thank you for sharing this. (And I find these plates with hole quite useful)

They're great even though I use those 2x3 plates with a hole quite regularly. :)

I think I like the checkerd one the best as well. It just has more of a classic feel. I love finding ways to use pieces that have no use. Well done.

Those are great. Way to make the look at that scale, which appears to be custom lol. Great techniques throughout. I too like the checkered one more, due to that pattern being not only synonymous but almost required on cabbies. Cool pair of taxis. ~cheers
