Hulk's Dirigible "Blowin' off Some Steam"
Built May 2012 for FBTB's "Wings of Justice" contest.
About this creation
After a few minor incidents where Hulk became slightly impatient inside the Avenger's jet, the heroic team decided it was time to give Hulk his own aircraft. Since S.H.I.E.L.D was a little low on finances at the time (something to do with Nick Fury buying too much Just for Men), Tony Stark traveled to the nearest junkyard and built a simply ingenious flying machine powered only by (Tony was way ahead of his time) steam!! Stark affectionately named the craft "Blowin' off Some Steam."

"Ha ha! Hey look, it's the Green Giant without his shirt! Ha ha h-" *SMASH*

All you need is a little pixie dust...

Simple controls for a simple guy.

I think the penants add a nice touch.

Forgive me for this: The balloons left the dirigible because they felt...deflated.

Yuuuuummmmmmm! Greebles!

If you liked Hulk's new ride, you can vote for it in the voting stage of the "Wings of Justice" contest! I believe voting starts June 4th. Be sure to check out the other awesome entries too! Here's a link to the FBTB forums.

Well, the Wings of Justice contest round 1 poll recently ended and... I won't be moving on to round 2. Hulk's Dirigible ended up receiving 2% of the votes tied for 15th place out of 52 entries. Truthfully, I am a little bummed because I feel like my (and other's) out-of-the-box thinking wasn't recognized as much as it should have been. But, it's not about the winning, it's about the building. So, I'd like to thank everyone who participated in the contest and I'd like to congratulate the 5 winners of round 1: <a href=http://www.fbtb.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7622&start=40#p70244>; madLEGOman's Psylocke's Psionic Wave Glider </a> <a href=http://www.fbtb.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7622&start=100#p70768>; Zane Houston's Hulk's Gamma Raider </a> <a href=http://www.fbtb.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7622&start=120#p70889>; Si Moc's Batman's BAT Rotor </a> <a href=http://www.fbtb.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7622&start=40#p70379>; sparkart's Wonder Woman's W.A.R.B.I.R.D </a> <a href=http://www.fbtb.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7622&start=20#p70200>; ted @nde's Wolverine's Vengeance. 2nd round voting starts tommorrow! Quoting JS Can Fantastic build! My only complaint is that it could use more inflatable balls.
I wanted to add more balloons, but I just didn't have enough pieces.

Hi Elliott. I love this moc - Funny and very well made. Excellent details throughout and Hulk is super cool. This would make a great addition to the Bricks of Steel group. I will send an invite but there is no 'pressure' (my attempt at a steampunk joke) to join.

Why is everyone suddenly talking about little green baby dinos!?!? :P The moment I saw those two dinos sticking out of the green pile, I said to myself: "Ferb, I know what we're going to do today!"

Quoting Dawn of Greatness This has such fantastic parts usage, I don't know where to begin! The greeblies, the tail, and, of course, the Hulk are all pure genious! It appears that it used to have a large rotor where the three balloons are; I think it would have looked better that way. Still, great MOC!
Yeah, I did originally have a giant 8-bladed rotor on the top, but I thought balloons would be more steampunk-ish. When the contest was first announced, I actually started building an all grey modern cargo helicopter with a broken windshield, but then I remembered the saying "blowing off some steam," and it was all downhill from there...

Wow! The shaping, cleanliness, and colour really make this pop. Brilliant parts usage everywhere, I especially like the use of catapult spoons. The Hulk figure is superb, and great use of dinosaurs. Excellent work and good luck in the contest!

"Hulk hate Hi-tech flying machine, Hulk want balloon-copter to gently land on ground...Hulk tired of smashing on ground." This is so awesome! You did a fantastic job on the form and function of a heli with a great steampunk look. Who knew it took so much machinery to spin a tail rotor. Lol, the whole back end is my favorite, great parts usage throughout. Dr Banner could build a heli, but Hulk can build a Dirigible. ~cheers
