AD 1028, Bosham, South coast of England. King Canute is believed by his courtiers to be so powerful that his word will even stop the tide. King Canute, knowing that he can’t even control his wife, knows this to be ridiculous, and so to prove a point takes a trip to the sea side. It would seem that this bit of history may be legend. The bit about controling his wife is made up! The books instead refer to him being very wise.

Brilliant sea gulls :) The 6th century British King Maelgwn Gwynedd said he could control the water; he sat on a chair with a hidden flotation device and had his rivals sit tide up in chairs nailed to the ground. As Canute was a Dane maybe his courtiers tried to get him to do something similar to placate the locals.

Excellent build and interesting bit of history! You know, Pres. Obama said he would lower the sea levels, so the more things change, the more they stay the same... Well done!
