Even though midori means green and aka bara means red rose, these she-warriors are similar in name only. Or are they?
About this creation
Ninja vs Pirate...
Midori Aka Bara of Chlorine vs Black Red Rosa of Aurous-Auric Chloride, these female combatants, are my entry for Round Three of the PeriodicBionicleContest2012.
So… will Ninja Midori’s colors of effervescing yellow-green Chlorine Gas & histological Neutral Red Chloride Dye (dry, it’s dark green & in pH 6.8 aqueous solution, it’s red) stand up to the dark red color of Pirate Rosa’s Hygroscopic Double Gold Cation Chloride Salt or the shine of her unreacted Gold? Possibly… because Rosa’s dark red color fades when exposed to water! Kinda problematic for a pirate… don’t ya think! Arr, arr, arr! Oh… but you do not know how problematic!
Hey… but in combat, we ain’t discussing color chemistry! In combat, it’s all about cunning, agility, strength, training and weapons, weapons, weapons!!! Now Midori is a master of the deadly kusarigama and all types of diversionary shuriken. But, Rosa is skilled in the use the curved blade cutlass and dagger. So… is it simply a question of English Sheffield steel technology verses Japanese steel science knowledge and art? Or, is it some unique, yet universal, combat maneuver known only to women warriors? Stay tuned and perhaps, you will find out!
NOW… FOR ALL YOU SHOE FREAKS…
THE ALL IMPORTANT FOOTWEAR CLOSE-UP!
“Slow ye down Midori, ye bunny boiler, pirate boots be made for walking NOT running!”
“You have much misfortune, Rosa, you bimbo of no brain! Tabi boots are made for stealth at any pace!”

WHOA… LOOKS LIKE THE GIRLS HAVE STOPPED FOR A PARLAY!
“Ho, ho, Midori, ye bamboo booby, ye slowed down. Be ye out of breath?”
“Rosa, you salty sea donkey. there is purpose to my slowing. We must parlay!”

“See here, Midori, here be some parlay for ye. Yer brother be a yeller swine!”
“Aso Rosa, you are number 1 sea donkey wearing most stupid white nail polish!”
“Midori, them’s fighting words!”
UH, OH…SO MUCH FOR PARLAY!
DEFINITELY SOUNDS LIKE THERE BE TROUBLE!
“Rosa, you savage troll, must I always have my guard up?”
“I would deem that wise, Midori, you cougar queen,
for I have drawn me golden dagger!”

A SMALL TUSSLE OCCURS, AND THEY EVENTUALLY DRAW THEIR BLADES…
“Midori, how did it come this far? I withdraw. I have better battles to fight!”
“Rosa, you speak the wisdom of my sensei, another day, my honorable one!”

THUS EACH WOMAN ENDS THIS DAY DIFFERENTLY,
YET STRANGELY SIMILAR…
Midori Summons The Light-To-Stealth Horizon On Which To Contemplate
While Rosa Basks In The Sunset Glow Recalling Her Homeland’s Penzance Coast

SO, ANOTHER DAY WILL BEGIN, BUT IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS…
IN A STRANGE WHITE PORCELAIN WOLRD, IN AN ABANDONED WELL…
ROSA WILL MEET HER END, NOT BY WEAPONS, OR WORDS, OR WILES…
HER LIFE BLOOD, HER DARK RED COLOR WILL BE MADE TO FADE AWAY…
BY THAT ONE DEADLY ALCHEMICAL ELEMENT SHE FINDS SO ATTRACTIVE…
“Sayonara, Rosa-san, you were strangely my equal, my twin, my tomodachi!
Mizu... water... pure water, it’s effect on you... I did not know!”

4th wall: I originally hoped to continue my recent experimentation with outdoor photo shots, but it’s been cloudy and grey for days. So, I played about with indoor lighting instead. Not sure if I really like it, but it does give a feel/mood to the poses. Although just what kind of feel/mood it is I have yet to figure out?! I really enjoyed making these gals and in researching on ninjas, I learned a bit more about their history and lore!

Just so you know, in the MOC of the Year nominations, you've got Mike and LiLi's links switched. Anyway, seriously, are you going to do a mud match? ;)
I’m not trusting you with that mud business! Can alginates be blended into mud… first question is… will that blend set? Conjures up all sorts of chemical trickster ideas! Second question is... are YOU going to do a mud match? Hee, hee! ;) |

Cat fight! I wonder how they'd do in the mud? Thanks for the nomination, by the way :)
You are most welcome! Your witticisms have given me many a pleasurable chuckle. :) |

A Bionicle with fierce weapons, killer heels and white nail polish! My kind of gal...
Hee, hee she is quite alluring... I am particularly proud of that boot design. Of course, I do like boots and used to wear them alot. I guess it was a carry over from my jumping and dressage riding. Yet, I think Midori is my favorite of the two. Anyhoo, I had alot of fun building both of them. :) |

That might work, or maybe even finding some way to bring the whole system down a stud's width or so. On some recent MOCs of mine, I've used some pretty sunk-in neck connections, which actually don't hinder the poseability much.
Thanx, if I make any changes it will have to be after the contest. I do favor a longer neck tho... as the neck, expecially the back, is considered attractive by Japanese males which is why Geisha kimonos have a bit of a low drape in the back. :) |

Nice work! Midori's neck is a little sparse, but other than that she's got some decent proportions. I like Rosa's legs, they look quite a bit like pirate leggings. Well done!
I agree with you on the neck! After I took the photos I thought the same thing. But, I had such a hard time with the lighting and posing that I couldn't bare to redo them all! I think what I should have done was used a small tire around that head/brain stem... don't ya think? Anyhoo, thanx for the kind critique! :) |

Very interesting entries to be sure; great job as usual! I do think that the pirate needs more gold on the lower body to balance out the colors a bit.
Thanx, perhaps so... but I really was digging those boots... and tried to keep them mostly of one color as best as I could! :) |
