After almost 3 years, here’s my new TARDIS design.
Attention: In case you want to comment on this creation, please try to avoid the word ‘Tardis’. MOCpages considers it a curse word, so the mods will have to moderate each comment. Please use ‘blue box’ or simply ‘box’ instead. Thank you.
About this creation
The TARDIS was my first design after my dark ages. I think I’ve learned a lot since then, especially how to steal. Not just stealing, but stealing from the best. In this case, Mark Stafford aka Nabii .
His 11th Doctor TARDIS is probably the best one I’ve seen so far. What I did now was simply fusing what I liked best from both designs.

Old and new version.
This is not a purist creation anymore. I once said that I won’t modify parts other than minifigs. Well, I lied, ha!
But all joking aside, this is one exception that proves the rule (probably not the last one). The idea behind this small MOC was that we tried to find more supporters for our LEGO Doctor Who sets on cuusoo. Forget it, TLG is not interested.
Oh, and one last word: This is a very small MOC. Right now I’m working on a larger project again, so small projects are probably all that I’ll post until the large one is finished. What large project?
It’s the UCS 11th Doctor Who TARDIS console room!

Great looking 'call box'! It's a shame you had to paint it to make it work. LEGO offers a great color palette, but the availability in all elements sometimes leaves a bit to be desired. |

I searched the LEGO brick "directories", and I couldn't manage to find these colored bricks. Where did you get them?
When I mentioned in the description that this is no purist creation, I meant that I spray-painted the parts in dark blue. These parts don't exist, but hopefully will do one day. ----- About your wish for advice: I can't really give you some. If you want to build something, like a cyberman for example, go and find as many pictures of him as possible, study them and try to recreate what you see with the brick collection you have. Try different techniques and have a good look at other people's techniques. Learn from them. That is all I can say; I hope it helps. |

shame about the lego group, they could how ever still come up with the parts needed in the right colours. I'm trying to find parts in d/red at the moment, but it does inspire you to try harder ( or spend a fortune ) to achieve your goals. I opted for CB tardis set got it cheap so could not resist I keep it apart from my lego so I don't have a proplem with it. this is still my favorite lego tardis great build. |

Hey, I was just wondering if there was going to be another Doctor Who contest?
I'm sorry, but I won't start another, last year was too much trouble, as you probably remember. Apart from that, my superhero contest this summer was quite a success (and for a private person, one contest really is enough to host) so the chances are very, very high that I'll host another superhero contest next year. I hope to see you there. |

Very nice looking! May I just ask, how have you built the six squares/windows that are on each side on the black box?

It's a lovely job mate, spot on in style. I must admit Mark Stafford's work was my first port of call too when I needed inspiration for a blue box (or just straight out theft!). I think purism is overrated, but my own forays outside of the box have only ever involved third-party accessories, i'm afraid paint is a bit final for me, I need my bricks back at the end of the build! If you are in customising mood, check out the Batman minifig customisation contest on Eurobricks - great prizes and I know you can do custom comics and do them brilliantly. |

Yes, Alan, sadly it's spray-painted. But in case we're successful on cuusoo, there'll be no further need to paint any bricks - then everybody can simply buy an original LEGO® blue box set. |

The line of Doctor Who brick toys that is already out their is just boring and pale. And with the 50 years anniversary coming up please please please support this. Only LEGO can make this series a convincing line of merchandise for Doctor Who, and trust me, if you dont know the series yet, or havent got it by watching a few episodes. Please watch a few more. The LEGO Police ate looking for you attempted robbery - but - wait - why - throughout history people have "robbed" ideas and made them their own, if you need help go to the City Hall Modular I hear they have a good Lego minifigure lawyer who might be able to help you! I recently started watching the show, and it's quite entertaining. You did a good job on this model, but shouldn't it be taller?
Thank you. Actually, each Doctor had his own blue box and it varied always a bit in hight and size. And then there's the problem of the minifig size - they should be taller. In the end, my blue box is almost too tall. |
