SHOOOM!!! It's my latest and greatest creation and it is my Sig Fig's Podracer.
About this creation
I advertised this in my last post which was just a bunch of sCRAP but here it is, my Sig Fig's Podracer. Just like his Starfighter, it sports the Blue, Black, and Gray color scheme with a hint of Red in the mix. I decided to not deviate from LEGO's 1999 Podracer designs as I do not own the new clear structured ones, but I did greeble the pods up a bit more that LEGO would have. This is by far one of my favorite things I have created from straight imagination and once I find the pieces on Bricklink to keep this thing together forever, that's how this baby will be.
The cockpit is very unusual. About one fourth of it is upside down and the rest is all greebled. In the mix are some Coffee Mugs, Stud Teeth, multiple Bars and Clips and just an insane amount of awesomeness.
And now what really makes this a Podracer, the pods! These were a bit of a challenge because I decided to make it similar to Ratts Tyerel's and Clegg Holdfast's Podracers. Each pod is centered primarily around two of the 2x4x4 Engine piece and use a combination of technic bits. I really liked the idea of the wheels that I would most likely vever use as the engine covers and the turned out nicely.
The pods come with opening and closing flaps for control.
Look at all the greebles.
Now I must give credit where it is due. These are minifigure helmets and the looked amazing in Alex Mac'sThe Relaprose and I just had to try them for myself. I originally had a design with more wheels and cones but the pod where then longer than Sebulba's pods and that just would not work with me.
Now no Podracer would be complete without a pit area. I completely stole LEGO's design, but I just had to because it works so well and my building style is in that of the sets.
I love the color scheme. The dark blue and black really mesh nicely. The pods are probably my favorite part. The greebles are pretty cool to. So are you above all the illegal weaponary then? Cause I didn't see any on it? I like how you stayed with the old. LEGO
adds so little detailed these days. I feel sad for all of us that have to put up with crappy lego sets that are so freakin exspensive.
Podracers and Jedi Starfighters are among my favourite lego sets of all time. I love how you made it look like a real set but still managed tons of detail. I find with new star wars sets the sets look exactly like the real thing but not enough like lego. I think this fits both categories perfectly! Great job!
