The Fighting Uruk-Hai
About this creation

Uruk-Hai there!... Never mind. Anyway, I whipped up a small diorama recently to show off the new LOTR 'figs, plus I wanted to experiment with some landscaping. Usually I only build snowscapes and deserts due to my measly foliage collection, and even this small MOC used up almost all of my plants. Still, I think it turned out okay, and gave me some experience with the genre. This is a scene depicting two Rohirrim facing a force of Uruk-Hai.

I tried out Katie Walker's leaf weaving technique for a couple of the trees.

Above. The river is one of my favourite parts, even though I feel that it's not somber enough for this MOC. The use of cheese for water was inspired by George G.

This photo highlights the interesting reflective quality of the cheese.

Another view. Thanks for stopping by!

Quoting Chris Melby Hey, Luke, for what it is worth, I liked your Lego avatar better! =D
You like Flare's alter ego better than Darth Revan? How insulting. ;)

Amazing work, as usual. The rock work and the leaves are extremeley well done. But I'm not too keen on the think trunk of one of the trees. Why not try building a LoTR siege? I think you may excell at that. Anyway, in the group Constructice Criticism we will be having a reveiw challenge. Where I will be looking for the best review. So keep checking back at the group.

Quoting Deus Otiosus Would you not think the finest archers of Middle-Earth would rely on bows and arrows at least at range? This really does not look like a Rohirrim tactic and believe me that they are trained in weapons as well as formation and strategy.
True, but if there are five well armored fighters charging you from 10-20 feet away you wouldn't have time to draw melee weapons before being cut down, even if you shot one or two Uruk-Hai.

That tree technique is well used, and overall the foliage is very good. The action of the scene is also very well conveyed, I can almost see the armies running.

Quoting Michael Kringe Nice work! Where can I find the instructions for the tree techniques?
Thanks, here's a link to one of the instructions. You can find more in her photostream as well. http://www.flickr.com/photos/eilonwy77/7228454706/in/photostream

Quoting Kayne _ Looks great! For a sparse vegetation collection, you did well here. I think the size of the build is fine for what it is. I say kep going with some of these smaller builds if that is all the plants you have, it works! The printed Uruk-hai helmets are from Orc Forge right? Have you found it at Target or did you order online?
Thanks! I got the Orc Forge from the online LEGO shop, there aren't any Targets around here.
