About this creation

Artist: Praga Khan
Song: Injected with a poison (1992)
Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQorUTqkSpY
Category: 1 (Acid House)
Due to the repetitious nature of the lyrics (it’s Acid house from 1992 not Gilbert & Sullivan), I’ll edit it back to certain lines of relevance :

Injected with a poison!
There's a rainbow inside the mind….
Injected with a poison!
We don't need that anymore.
Free your body, Feel the energy
Free your body, I'm in ecstasy
Free your body, Use your fantasy
Free your body…..
Injected with a poison!
Are you listening to me?

As you may have guessed, the object of the contest is a build, scene or vig based on a song, it's lyrics, etc.

Extra points if you have 20 year old Belgian acid house in your head right now.

Thanks for looking.

Well said, well said indeed. Life may be too short to worry, but it's never too short to post another MOC. ;) Keep up the great work!

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Don't take Chris too hard, that's how he rolls. Sure, it's not always complimentary, but he's kind of like an adult Deus-not afraid to give his opinion.
I'm not conceited enough to think every comment I may get should be complimentary, nor do I mind opinions - I welcome them, especially as MOCpages is generally not used to criticism. But the comparison to Deus is excellent - critical but not at all constructive. It does also appear that the context of the MOC is misconstrued yet again. Worse, that the description has not been read and instead that the 'highlights' of the comments are more important. Oh well, life's too short to worry :)

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist I can't help but ask you something after seeing your last comment. Do you support purism or non-purism? Frankly, that's the most important lifestyle of all...
I like some third party stuff (BA, BF, etc) and custom decals can look great, but cutting and painting is beyond me so I leave it to those who are good at it - Jasbrick is a great example.

Quoting Chris Melby Personally, I think the build is average, and I think MOC pages is the wrong place for this kind of debate. Moc pages is a place to showcase insane building skills and design, and under those parameters, this build has much to be desired. Meh.
Er, wow, did I step on your toes Chris? because I can't quite fathom where this comment came from. To be clear, there is no debate, this was a quick, simple, one night build for a contest that people felt had a different meaning until they read the description - did you? Furthermore, MOCpages is the "place to showcase insane building skills and design"? In an ideal world it would be but honestly lots of people just are not as amazingly gifted as you, so we have to swim in the depths of our mediocrity and make ourselves feel better by leaving positive feedback on our distinctly average builds. Thanks for lowering yourself to grace my 'Meh' build with your presence, don't forget to wipe your feet on the way out.

Quoting Henrik Hoexbroe Excellent build. The skull is very well done. The rainbow colours illustrate very well the drugged and clogged mind of using drugs. (Maybe it should have parental warning¿?)
Thanks for the comment Henrik, i appreciate it. I absolutely won't put a parental warning on this though. I didn't intend it as a reference to drugs, or the other points raised below, although I thoroughly appreciate how it could be seen either way. I actually just took a very literal take on the lyrics in the song as a visual (at one point I was trying to build a brain with the rainbow in, but the skull looks way cooler!)and the rest is up to the viewer to decide. To be clear, I neither condemn or condone drugs, the LGBT lifestyle, the worship of any diety, Pepsi vs Coke, or any number of other issues or life choices people make. I police mine and my children's lives and everyone else is free to get as messy as they like, however they like doing it!

True, and I guess we need to combat over-population somehow... ;) And I'm glad you weren't offended, for that's the last thing I'd ever want to do.

H0mos-x.uality is part of evolution, just like heter0s-x.uality. And heter0s-x.uality is not normal, it is just common. And I'm still not offended :o)

Superb. The skull design is perfect, as is the syringe. As for any symbolisms, I can see the LGBT reference as well as how substances can alter the mind. I think either one is correct, depending on one's point of view. I mean, truth be told you could consider being LGBT as a poison. It's a mental difference that removes the desire to reproduce and advance the human race. Not that I have any issue with LGBT people, and I respect their views and treat them as any other person. I'm just speaking from a purely evolutionary standpoint. So hopefully my little speech doesn't offend anyone, as I mean no disrespect whatsoever. Great work on this build and good luck in the contest!

After the others pointed it out I could see how it could have been seen that way. But I didn't see it at first and your description (with lyrics) totally covers it. Aside from how this "could" have gone, it's a great build and a great take on the category... 4 points! Oh wait... we're not doing that anymore are we? hehe ~ Chris.

I consider myself being a good online friend of Stuart and talking to him is always interesting and a pleasure. I am openly g-a.y and I don't feel offended, since I'm 100% sure it wasn't Stu's intention. In addition to that, I'm happy to see so many people here going to the barricades for the rights of minorities. ----- Using the wavy slopes around the rainbow was a clever idea. It reminds me of comic thought bubbles and underlines the song's statement. Good luck in the contest. ----- My first comment didn't make it through the filter, second try.

Quoting Aidan Bryant Well, since you asked. When I first saw the picture and caption, I thought it was some kind of stance against geys(just trying to get around the censor) Personally, I don't care one way or another, but was interested in what kind of attention it may have drawn.
Thanks for the response Aidan, I really appreciate it. It's very interesting that several of the comments suggested they interpreted this the same way until they read the description. I am aware of the usage of the rainbow for the LGBTG community but honestly, it wouldn't have crossed my mind to see this that way which ws why I asked how you had interpreted it. Quite apart from the fact that my circle of friends would make that kind of statement very unlikely, I prefer to keep any offense I may cause obvious and in your face! Thanks again.

Striking build, actually quite a simple one, but it looks complex and brilliant. I too thought it was highlighting a particular s_xuality, although personally I thought the opposite of the below and that it was pro equality and showing the fruitlessness of those who are intollerant, but whatever it shows, I like it as a model : ) 5 stars

Re: Aidan, El Barto and JS Can's comments - I'm guessing the rainbow thing must be a symbol that doesn't cross the Atlantic; all I saw here was an elegant build! The syringe is simple but nicely done.

On first look, my thoughts were pretty much the same as Aidan and El Barto and that it was a statement against a particular group.

Quoting Aidan Bryant Huh, when I saw that picture and caption going together, something different came to mind. However, after actually reading the description, I can see I was way off, which is good, because I thought this waaay more offensive at first, but I see its just harmless.
I'm really intrigued as to how you interpreted it at first - did you come to rant? Would love to know....
