Pink and Gold Castle
This is my daughter's Pink and Gold "good" Castle. (See also her Black and Gray "evil" castle)
About this creation

I first decided to build a “pink” castle for my six-year-old daughter just before the 2006 holidays. Her twin brother was building and playing with our Lego much more than she was and I wanted to include her in our Lego play. I had purchased some pink bricks for the 2005 holidays and struggled to find more. My struggles to find pink bricks were partially over when I discovered BrickLink. That being said, it soon became clear that 2 x 2 "pink" bricks are not available, leading to real challenges in the design and building of my daughter's castle! I finally switched over to "dark pink" bricks to make some progress since 2 x 2 "Dark Pink" bricks ARE availible.

I had a blast building it and in witnessing my daughter’s enthusiasm each day as the small castle progressed to the final product.

As a side note, I have since discovered Belville figurines and have purchased some for her to play with, with her castles. My daughter has a good sized collection of Schleigh and Papo figurines and animals so I tried to build the Castles to a scale that she could unleash her creative imagination playing with her figurines and Lego castles.

2011 UPDATE PICS

I'm glad I built this castle for my daughter when I did! To be honest, I don't think I could build this castle today. With the RISE IN COST of any shade of PINK BRICKS and GOLD BRICKS on BrickLink it would cost me about the same amount of money that a quality family vacation would be!! Plus the availability seems to be less now. Supply and demand I suppose.

Quoting Lee Jones Finally, some competition for my daughter's pink castle. This is a beautiful design, I especially like the detailing you have done in the interior. I also like the gold accents. We had the same difficulty with the lack of variety with the bright pink bricks, but were able to get around it by turning a 2 x 4 brick sideways (where the other side would be hidden). Look forward to seeing some of your other designs on these pages. Lee.
Hey there Lee, I finally got around to posting some of the MOC's I've built with/for my daughter. Check them out an see what you think.

Wow! what a dedicated father, that's good, so is the castle even though it's pink!
