True Cop Episode 2: Assignment
Sorry for the wait!
About this creation

It was one big mess.

The police were interveiwing witnesses and responders.

Emergency workers were helping the injured.

The scene was being investigated.

And the media had arrived.

John was being questioned.

"Are you sure you fired the automatic weapon in self-defense or were you attaking the suspects?"

"They were SHOOTING at me and everyone else!"

"Could you answer the ques-"

"Yes, ok? Am I the criminal here?"

"Well, you were off duty at the time and you didn't try and escape you-"

"I would've died! You know what, go ahead and arrest me for fighting for my life!"

The officer got the message and left.

Gee, he thought. Must be a double of Ben.
He didn't notice Paluska coming up behind him.

"Hey, John."

"Oh, yes sir?"

"You did good today. I could use more men like you in the force."
"Thank you sir."

"Go home, get some rest. I'll sort out the paperwork, keep you out of a desk position while this is investigated."

Then he said glancing around,"We'll need you."

"I think I'll do that. Thanks again, sir."

"No problem."

As John was leaving, a reporter came up.
"Excuse me, I'm from the New York Times and I was wondering if you could answer a few questions?"
Not in the mood, John kept on walking.

The next day, NYPD 71st Precinct.

John slowly walked in.

He took a seat.

He barely got out of bed this morning.

Jim came over.
"Hey, John."

"Oh, hey Jim."
"Well, uh, sorry about yesterday. You know, if you wanna talk, you know where to find me."

"Thanks Jim."

That helped, a little.

Then John noticed something.

The TV on another desk was on.

He listened in.

"Good morning, and thank you for watching New York 1."

"Still no leads on the shooting at the courthouse yesterday afternon that killed 6 and injured 3, one severely, including the suspects."

"If you weren't with us yesterday, a group of men from the large gang Silver Guns stormed the courthouse yesterday to rescue one of there members from custody, who turned out to-"

John turned away. He didn't want to recount last afternoon at all.

Then he had an idea.

"Sorry, but you're Organized Crime, right?"

"Detective Wright, Organized Crime. Yup, that's me. How can I help, Detective..."

"Russo, Homicide. Are you working on the shooting last night at the the courthouse?"

"Yeah."

"You wouldn't mind keeping me up with the case, would ya?"

"Sure."

"Thanks detective."

"No prob."

"Ahem." Harrison wanted to look important.

"Oh, yes?"

"Something came in a few hours ago, but you weren't here."

John took the folder.

"What is it?

"Robbery gone wrong. That's got the address. You might want to hurry. I've got a guy from Robbery squad waiting on you."

"I'll get there now," John said, leaving for the garage.

"You're forggetting your jacket."

"Doesn't matter," John swiftly replied.

"He's crazy," Benjamin mumbled to himself.
