My first attmept at recreating Barad Dur. this would have only been the central tower yet to be surrounded by several walls and placed atop a viscious mountain. it was going okay... until I put in a figure for Sam. he looked fine next to the door, but looked fairly big compared to the magnitude of the tower described in the books and seen in the movies. I'm rather impressed with the small columns by the front. they were relatively easy to design, and could be used in many architectural styles ranging from ancient Greece, to Mordor, to any state capital in modern times.
About this creation
I've got a close up of the main door where Frodo and Sam shriek at this quarter constructed tower.
here is also a picture of the balcony above the dor. its kinda small, but I did want it to almost blend into the skin of the tower.
down here I also have a shot of the odd portrusions from the wall. these looked really good util I stuck them to the wall. they got too covered up to look good, especially with all of the contrast in the wall
this attempt will certainly not throw me from my quest to make an adequate, minifig scale Barad Dur which is both fierce and refined. I've already started on take two, and gotten a fair amount of work done, which in reality is only about 1/16 of the structures I actually need to design, but I'm on summer break, so I should have plenty of time to pour my malice into this fearsome structure.
