That's a good way to solve the difference between the 4-stud radius of the upper cone's base and the 6-stud radius of the lower cone's top.

I actually considered using those escape pod pieces for a roof a while back, but I couldn't figure out how to taper it further without a less than pretty offset. Your use of the round dish piece seems to be a good solution, and gives a nice band to it. Great work!
