Well I built this for the Doughnut Contest round 2 (build a micro-scale vehicle with between 25 and 50 pieces - I just realised I got the criteria wrong, so it would have failed anyway). Unfortunately I just checked the group page and see that Lego Doughnut has cancelled the challenge due to lack of interest. Never mind, I decided to post it anyway.

Oops...sorry I didn't see those, but now I can tell. Since that's out of the way, the whole truck just looks awesome! |

It was the hitch which prompted the whole build. They are very rare I think, as they broke so easily. I found several snapped ones of these in my childhood stash, and only one remaining intact pair. |

Really nice work here, David. I like watching you progress through this love affair you're having with the micro scale. I haven't seen many micro trucks; most of them are in the mini scale with a fig. This would be a perfect prop for a micro-dio. |

its nice but could be nicer because it doesent look like a flatbed truck, Here is what I mean: If you detached the back it would go plop on the floor...sooo if it does not have a load it will topple over:( it looks great though.
Thanks Alex, I always appreciate your comments - the sound voice of physics, pragmatics and reason in my word of aesthetic whimsy :) |

Wow, David, this truck looks great! I love the accuracy of the whole thing, and I can only think of one suggestion: Maybe use rubber LEGO tires instead of gears. Other than that, I love it!
Thanks Fritz, these are actually old-scool early 80s red Lego wheels with rubber tyres, with a lever base added to act as a hub-cap - but I can see how you might think they look like gears. |
