The Final Countdown -- MARDET Command
In the beginning, after thirst and hunger forced us out of the bunkers and into the ruined streets, it was the marines who rounded us up like so many lost sheep and brought us together here in the construction bay.  They were the best equipped, and best trained to deal with the challenges of this wasted landscape. The Marine Detachment Command Sergeant Major (MARDETCOM) place his detachment at my disposal immediately, but he left little room for doubt that he was large and in charge.  He made it clear that while his marines provided security outside the bay, we would do our jobs inside the bay. As he put it, “Doctors will doctor, Padres will preach, and lawyers will stand by and await re-assignment”. There was one man, taxidermists by trade, and he asked what he should do. The MARDETCOM spun upon the man and responded as if insulted: “Stuff it!” That became the Neugarten MARDET motto on the spot.  I begin to wonder if it’s not a good motto for us all.
About this creation

The Marine Detachment is well armed and equipped! The have the gear to survive outside in the harsh environment of a dying planet while trying to save what little remains and fend off the possible attacks of hostile aliens. The Commander, Sergeant Major Warren Copeland was near retirement and had been adjunct to the Marine Commandant of Neugarten for several years. Following the mutual destruction of both alien and Terran forces, he uses his knowledge, authority and no nonsense attitude to fight for and direct the survival of those who can escape, knowing that his own advanced cancer will never let him leave alive.

He has earned the name Copeland not only because it is his given surname, but because he tells his troops to cope with it and as a former drill instructor still has the same attitude -- "Cope Land" was the nickname of the former Marine Training Center.

Quoting Michael Rutherford Guardians of the mirror ball! At first I was turned off by the chrome. But I kept comming back, and now I'm a chrome advocate! I also like the iron mask heads you used. They all look angry. I dig it. Old parts, lots of use. The best!
Would you not be angry of some alien tore up your eco-system and killed your friends and made you have to leave? But in thinking about this I had to come up with an idea for a protective unit that could be worn...I pulled those out and the group was born, I do wish that those had come in some different colors, I cannot bring myself to paint them!!! I also wish I had more than four.
