Werewolf H-MBS Mk.I
"When you find someone that chooses speed over armor or heavy weapons, you're looking at a man that's either brave or a little crazy. We need more pilots like that."
About this creation
Just like in fighter design, eventually you're gonna end up building an Interceptor instead of a Bomber. Logic states that, with plenty of skill and maybe a little luck, speed will always best heavy armor and massive weapons in combat. So we built speed.

--Specifications--
-Model: Werewolf High-Maneuverability Mech Battle Suit Mk.I
-Class: Mechanized Battle Suits, High-Maneuverability type (H-MBS)
-Role(s): Hit-and-Run, Melee Attack Unit
-Tonnage: 82
-Height: 13.6 meters
-Power Source: MN-5400 Heavy-Duty EM Power Core Mk.19
-Max Speed: 145 MPH
-Armament: HL-147 Pitbull rifle, Durasteel Heavy Scimitar, wrist-mounted plasma blades

With a fire rate of 420 RPM, the HL-147 Pitbull automatic rifle is the main weapon of the Werewolf. Its compact bullpup design makes it practical for the Werewolf's speed mentality. The Pitbull fires incendiary rounds, making up for the indvidiual rounds' small size and, combined with its fast rate of fire, allowing it to burn away the armor of large targets like enemy MBSs. While the Pitbull has proven itself to be rather effective, many of the test pilots who ran the prototype stated that they would have preferred a heavy-duty energy pistol design for the more compact design and higher stopping power. Thus the Pitbull has been the subject of much debate.

Creator's Notes: I love that pose. :P

This weapon started as sort of a glaive-type weapon and somehow became an oversized scimitar-ish sword. I'm not entirely happy with it, but I suppose it doesn't matter. Sword or glaive, either way I'd rather not end up on the receiving end of that sharpened hunk of durasteel. Something I'm rather happy with, however, is the wrist design on the Werewolf. like my MAU-1 frame, I gave the design a vertical joint arc as opposed to the more common horizontal one. the horizontal variety doesn't serve much purpose, whereas the other variety is immensely helpful for melee weapons and sometimes even has its uses with ranged weapons.

Definitely my favorite of the three weapons would be the Werewolf's wrist-mounted ejectable plasma blades. They offer some nice possibilities not possible with most melee weapons, possibilities that are very much taken advantage of with a design like the Werewolf. Credit goes to Chunk and Bio for the blade design.

...Just another epic pose I got. :P

Front and side/back view, as is relatively obvious.

Creator's Notes: This would definitely be one of my favorite MBS designs I've made. The finished result greatly exceeded my initial expectations. Is it flawless? not quite (and this is definitely a design I'll spend some time on working out kinks). but not too far from flawless in my humble (...erm, kinda :P) opinion.

Special thanks to Richie, who helped me with an endless stream of pictures, corrections in proportions, and other such things that helped shape this into the forty-eight-foot metal beast it is now.

also, credit to Chunkblaster as usual. I'm honestly a bit disappointed with my creativity limits, as I actually managed to build an almost exact copy of the Grey Wolf MBS's upper body without even slightly looking at it. I had to spend several hours "fixing" it to be more original a design. I suppose that's either incredible or awful, depending on your perspective. :/
oh, and Chunk, note that I fixed the "Hi-maneuverence" designation to a more correct spelling of the term. :P

I'm hoping to continue on the digitigrade/Wolf Anthro design here and create more non-Looks-Like-A-Jet-Fighter-Slammed-Into-A-Mech H-MBS designs with it.

Anyway, have fun, and Play Well!

Quoting Rich Collins... 257th Wolf @ Chunk blaster and Me2: I'll have to agree with you two on the head. I Plan to make a few "Mk. 2" modifications, among which will be a new, more wolf-like head. With more prominent "ears"
feel free. I'm interested to see how many of the initial flaws you work out of the design. :)

Quoting CBMC Chunkblaster The design isnt bad, but I'm afraid I do have a few complaints. If the mech is designed for speed, the massive legs seem to contradict that. You've also removed the ability for the rear thrusters to thrust vector? A bit of an odd decision. You've also worn out that head design, I agree with Me2 that the head doesnt suit the wherewolf idea. Normally I wouldnt nitpick this much but you've been working with the MBS's for a while now and I just havnt seen many improvements or changes in the designs from the base Greywolf frame.
"Unoriginal? Out of proportion? Poor functionality? Are these not the traits of any great Mech?" (a redone line from a play, in case you're wondering :P) well, the idea behind the leg design was that, just like in real life, being double-jointed would act like big springs. the weight of the leg is surprisingly light, actually. and the size of the lowest leg segment is both to give the Mech a low center of gravity and to give it a little extra armor. though I agree that it could be slimmed down a bit, streamlined better, given sturdier joints, and have thrusters for better propulsion. on all your other issues, I agree completely, and I'll try my best to fix them. the reason behind the thrusters' lack of thrust vectoring was that they were originally going to be much, much larger, and (theoretically, anyway) joints that would have allowed thrust vectoring would have been too small. anyway, thanks for your opinion. I'll see what I can do to improve.

Great design! I may actually end up using dogleg-type legs on my current mech project... I do, however, have one issue. Well, more of a suggestion really. It's the head. Maybe it's just me being new to mechs, but I keep seeing that type of head design over and over in almost everyone's mechs. Since this design is apparently based off a werewolf, I'd suggest something with a more wolf-like design. Y'know, maybe add something that looks like ears (unless I missed that)? I dunno. It's up to you. Just throwing it out there. Awesome job regardless! EDIT: Okay, I see ear-type things now. But my comment about seeing that head shape repeatedly still stands.
