Strike Freedom
The Strike Freedom from Gundam Seed Destiny. Ldraw model included.
About this creation
[Gundam Brackground]
The ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom is a mobile suit which is mainly shown in the anime TV series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. First shown deployed in episode 39 (called PHASE 39 in the anime), it is piloted by one of the main characters of the series, Kira Yamato, as part of the Three Ships Alliance and Orb Union's 2nd Space Fleet. Despite its designs bears striking similarity to its predecessor, ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam, this mobile suit can be easily distinguished in the anime by its golden joints across its white and black body, detachable wings, and the Freedom series "trademark" capability to lock onto multiple units.

[My Model]
I'm pretty proud of how this one turned out. The hip guns rotate from back to side and unfold for 'full burst' mode. The 'super dragoon' wing segments detach. And the cockpit opens to reveal a little seat and screen. I didn't put too much detail into the cockpit but I though it was a cute little gimmick. The two rifles combine together to form the large one he is shown holding. When not combined the butts of the guns snap back into place (the first rotates and the second pops inward) and the guns themselves can be attached to the hips.

[The ldraw format]
Visit ldraw.org for more information and to download the free programs need to view/render/manipulate my models. For those unfamiliar with ldraw, it will create step by step instructions as well as parts lists for any model. It really is a wonderful program and ldraw.org has a bunch of tutorials for getting you started.

[Notes about my ldraw model]
I would consider this sort of a rough draft model. I didn't take the time to make perfect directions, or to make sure all the joints were lined up exactly. Also, be sure to have extra 1/2 technic pins on hand if you're using the ldraw generated parts list. There were several places where I left them out simply because it got annoying constantly moving around those little pins as I was changing/moving stuff around.

[Closing notes]
I've posted several other Gundams from Gundam Wing Endless Waltz, and I'm in the process of working on more from Seed and Seed Destiny. Check them out in my brickshelf gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=Draez
