DHL P-4 "Valiant" cargo jet in alternative DHL livery
One of DHL's workhorses in the Lego world: a KAAI P-4 "Valiant" jet, cargo version. Key words: DHL Lego aircraft jet jetliner airliner cargo transport transportation airline airlines livery MD-80 MD-90 engine thrust reverse reverser airport airfield layout ground services landing gear retractable functional realistic realism playability container KAAI Kasteleiner
About this creation

The main inspiration for this model came from the real-life MD-80/MD-90 designs, though I did go for a different, rather supercritical wing shape, allowing the highest subsonic speeds. (See wing shapes of B 727 or B 747, for instance.)
The aircraft fits at least 8-9 containers of the kind that is displayed further below on this page. The fuselage is 8-wide; the engines are 5-wide, identical to the ones on my P-2 Sojourner, and include thrust reversers again.

Many of the other key techniques used on the P-4 Valiant obviously derive from a former build of mine, the P-1 Falcon. The P-4, however, is much larger in its dimensions, is suitable for use of containers, has much sturdier landing gear, a sleeker wing profile and offers much better visibilty to the pilots, due to a more strongly decreasing nose section and enlarged cockpit front windows. Also, it feautures a more finely applied stepping for the tapering of the nose and tail sections.

Well, I hope you guys like it!

Nice lettering. I especially like the thrust-reversers. Plane looks really long and sleek, with some nice angles to the wings.

Great to see a new build by you. Wonderful modelling and a good amount of detail in the cockpit. I did not know Lego did those fan blades in silver. I supposed I could have used those rather than cut mine down. Excellent work.

Hmm...I see you made your first real airline on an aircraft (: Very nice details, Steffen, especially the engines and the nose! Although I do recommend making the tail section thicker as it is a bit thin. But anyways it is a very nice aircraft and good luck on future builds! :D Regards, Jonathan
