Let The Wookiee Win
About this creation

Well, back to Star Wars! The Star Wars Athalon has given me an excuse to return to this genre, and I thought I'd also experiment with light bricks some more. It's built for the category "Let the Wookiee win" and for the team "The Bricks Strike Back".

Without using a second light brick.

The whole MOC. It's a club/casino/bar place on Nar Shaddaa with a swoop race about to happen in front.

Man in suit: "Let the Wookiee win."
Swoop pilot: "Yes sir."

I tried to make the environment around the establishment a bit run-down, so I included some different colours and this rat.

The side.

A crate has spilled some delicious "Olive Cheese" onto the ground.

The wookiee revs his engines while waiting for his competition.

Inside the building people from across the galaxy drink and be merry.

Don't ask.

There are billions of stars, millions of planets, but there is only one man, Terrance McDoogal. I figured that with Ludgonious back I'd throw Doog in here, and I gave him the same outfit he had in the first LIU episode. Interestingly enough, I had bricklinked that torso and the torso Doog has in the latest instalment a couple of weeks ago without knowing that those were his clothes. I attribute this uncanny occurrence to the Force...

The roof, which turned out better than I'd anticipated.

Thanks for stopping by, expect more entries to come!

I like the whole concept, it's just a little bit crowded on the inside, and a little colorful for a Star Wars bar. But I like all the added detail and good presentation. I give you a 4.

Quoting Brody Allen The overall build has some nice detail but feels a bit monochromatic and cramped, but I still like it. It is hard once you have something as brilliant as the taris underbelly MOC to maintain that level.
Thanks, I agree that more colours could have been used, and a larger base certainly would have been better. I can't believe how much you and many others like Taris Underbelly, to tell the truth I wasn't overly thrilled with it! :)

I think the concept was well done and in my opinion it was a strong connection to the quote by having a fixed race. The overall build has some nice detail but feels a bit monochromatic and cramped, but I still like it. It is hard once you have something as brilliant as the taris underbelly MOC to maintain that level.

Quoting Elliott Feldman Oh, by the way, there was one other thing I noticed about this creation: Both of the swoop bikes consist of basically one color. Whenever I build ships, no matter how big or small, I start with a base color (black, white, or grey), a primary color (main color), and a secondary color (highlighting). It's just a suggestion that I feel could improve your work. Good luck! :)
Yes, colouration can be one of my weaknesses, especially in sci-fi. With this I tried to build two swoops, each from a different "uncommon" colour and got so caught up with that that I didn't think to add variation. Thanks for the tip, I'll keep it in mind! Oh, and what do you mean by base colour and primary colour? They seem the same to me.

Quoting Space Gypsy . Oh yeah, I forgot to say. You need to add it to the contest group for it to be valid.
Yeah, I was just waiting to make sure that if I forgot to add something it'd be pointed out before I could be disqualified.

Swoop racing, Wookiees, and a ground-mounted disco ball? That sounds like a night to remember, if you're sober enough. Sweet build!

Quoting Elliott Feldman Hey, listen, I really didn't mean to be as critical as I was. I'll be building in this category as well, so judges, be sure to knock off points if you don't think the connection is strong enough in my build, just to be fair. :)
No, no, I don't mind criticism and took no offence. It's good to know what can be improved, and it makes one a better builder. Best of luck with your entry, not that you'll need it if you continue like you have been. ;)

Quoting Space Gypsy . I agree with Elliot, the link is rather tenious. But you sure did compensate with the build. Well done. You earned 4/5. Only becuase of the link!
Really? I had figured that since the MOC is based around the upcoming race and the cheating going on that I'd be fine, but I can see where you're coming from. Thanks for the high score!

Quoting Dave Kaleta You might want to consider a differentiation of color between the ground and the building as the architectural details get lost.
Thanks for the advice! I considered that, but I couldn't figure out what other colour would work best.

This is very clever work here. You have a good idea and a solid execution. You might want to consider a differentiation of color between the ground and the building as the architectural details get lost. Great work. ~Dave

Quoting Elliott Feldman although I think the "Let the Wookie win" connection could have been a little stronger.
Thanks! I agree, but the category said "Interpret this quote any way you want", so I didn't get too hung up on integrating it.
