I've got one of those. It's great for motorizing cars, because you can slide a technic rod through the 2 holes and put wheels on the end, then put another rod connecting from the single hole and attach it to the motor (old) and do the same for the front axles (or rear axles, whatever one you do next. Next you hook the motor up to the battery box (old) and build the body of your car. Put the body onto the undercarriage, start the battery box and watch your car speed off. I've got all the right parts for this, other than another of the piece in your picture.

Reminds me of the very first gearbox bricks from the late 70s technic range. I've never owned this part!

Well it has gears in it and I used it as a deferential in my R/C SUV But I would like to know what set it came from ;)
