1987 GMC/American Eagle
About this creation

First layer of the storage box including the AED Kit, the binolculars, the shovel, and the rescue chain.

The second layer of the storage box including the SCBAs, the traffic stick, the flashlight, the Haz-Mat grip claws, the Jaws of Life, and the 300 WATT generator.

The axes, pick axe, and circular saws mounted on the wall.

A full view from the perspective of someone looking inside the truck.

All of the gear layed out. From left to right starting with the top row: the Jaws of Life, 2 SCBA masks and bottles, a flashlight, a traffic stick, 2 binoculars, 2 Haz-Mat grip claws, a shovel, a fire extinguisher, and a 300 WATT generator. Bottom row: an AED Kit, three axes, a pick axe, three circular saws, and a rescue chain.

The crew of Special Hazards 1 in front of the truck.

This is a 1987 GMC 7000/American Eagle-Special Hazards unit. It was changed in the Spring of 2012 and a canopy was added to the top of the truck to make it a walk-in rescue unit. This truck contains two Quartz light poles on the front of the box, scene lighting, the Jaws of Life, 2 SCBA masks and bottles, a flashlight, a traffic stick, two pairs of binoculars, two Haz-Mat grip claws, a shovel, a fire extinguisher, a 300 WATT generator, an AED Kit, three axes, a pick axe, three circular saws, and a rescue chain. It has two Grover Airhorns, an Aerodync Lightbar, and a Federal Signal Q2B Siren mounted on the bumper with warning sticks.

This is my first 7-wide body and I think that it turned out rather nicely.
NOTE*
The nickname "Specializing in Madness and Mayhem", came from a real life volunteer fire department and this was the name given to their new Pierce Arrow XT Tiller.

Quoting Dalton Stender Dude, Anthony, this truck is AWESOME just like your squad 611 and brush 616 I think. If you made another squad to sell, I would buy it in a heart beat. That truck is FENAMINAL! Shoot me an email at dslegobuilder77@gmail.com.
I don't sell anything.

Quoting Justin Zalaski That is an AWESOME truck. You did such a good job with it. Only thing I would change that should be made is the wheels. Get a 2x4 flat brick and put it on top of the wheels so it's raised, the it will be more like the real thing.
The real thing doesn't have a raised suspension.

West Brickwich You are an amazing builder and have awesome creations. You are honestly one of my favorite builders. Please check out my page. And again you are great at building.

D H, That section next to the generator appears to be a usable seat, plus the two in the cab. So 3 out of 4 isn't bad. :P
  August 8, 2012
@ D H: I think it might be one of those stand-up walk-ins.

This rig is awesome, you really captured the look of the GMC old school box cab! I have seen several of these in real life and you NAILED it. My only question is where do the guys in back ride? All the detail, and no where to sit. [Playing devil's advocate here ;) ]

Ohhhh. Ok. That explains the confusion. On the West it is either (Heavy) Rescue or US&R.

I think this should be a heavy rescue because of all the tools, chains, and saws. Special Hazards would have a portable "bath"/shower, and hazmat suits, and barrels, as well as air monitors to test for gases in the air.

Thanks for the comment! Special Hazards is another term for Heavy Rescue. You may be thinking about a Haz-Mat Unit. Rescues on the East Coast are commonly known as Special Hazards.

I think you need to build a real volly station. Volunteers don't have living quarters and all, just bays and a meeting room if it's fancy. I think you ought to build that kind of station. But it's your department, so you do what you want. Cool rescue.

Quoting Gunnar N This has to go in the big door on your station
Nope, the station is destroyed actually. That project never took off. I decided to finish my units first. Tower 3 was supposed to go in that large bay.

Very nice! @dcatch1 New gets kind of tiring after a while. That's why my department had a Simon-Duplex for so long, but I changed it to an Arrow XT. @Anthony V I'm glad your brother is into fire apparatus now! Will you be helping him any (building units for him)?

Quoting Paulo Rodriguez Very cool, loving the 7 wide, I think you need a heavy rescue and tanker. But you know you never stop building your fire department, it will always grow or you start a new one! Lol great job man!
Thanks! My brother is doing his departmnt soon, so there will be a Mutual Aid tanker soon!
