Quoting Luke V I instantly recognized this ship you are building. Is it the USS Missouri?
yes it is,slow progress due to the size of it,working on gun turrets even there a MOC on their own.the turret itself is about 14 inches long twice that when the guns are fitted, most of what i build is in megabloks due to price and availability of lego,it cost a small fortune as i dont dismantle anything as yet.thanks for looking.

Quoting El Barto ! Totally unbelievable! What kind of investment are we looking at here, if you don't mind?
hard to say its frightening when you add it up,on average i would guess $100 a week,75.i priced up to build one out of pure lego it would be in the region of $15000 as i use a lot of megabloks its considerably cheaper, its quite hard building in sections i prefer to have yhe hull in one piece, easier to get it in proportion that way, hopefully not too long before i get some more done on it.thanks for your comments

Quoting Matthew Crane hi jim, sorry for late reply for answering your question, been working on a ship that is very similar to this, and the occasional school work. anyway, the 5" turrets would be about 2 minifigs tall, if that helps. also, about how many studs is it from the bow to your first 16" gun turret ive been trying to guess how far it would be for mine, but the iowa is about 200 some studs shorter than what im worcking on if yours is on a scale of 1/40. sorry for the really long comment, i tend to ramble
thanks for your comment, from the bow to the first turret is 212 to 220 studs, approx scale is 1/40 to 1/38,i am building the USS Fletcher at the moment.the single 5inch guns are bigger than the ones have made for the Missouri so in need of a rebuild.look forward to seeing your build,

Quoting Matthew Crane OMFG! this is awesome already! my personal opinion is that there aren't enough lego models of this class of ship, its always the brits or japs (no offense). im glad it looks the way it is. just gonna say the 5" gun turret looked a lil small, and the barrel might need to be longer, but just comparing it to a 5" turret someone made for a fig scale USS Intrepid. maybe there different? oh well.... Good Job!
yes i seen them after i built these ones but i thought they looked quite big,i just took the size of a man standing next to one and scaled it from there, how much bigger do you think they should be,have 6 built so far but can change them easily enough.cheers

Quoting Raymond Drum I've been waiting to see progress updates on this and I tell you what. When I saw that first picture, my jaw dropped. Scrolling down through the update took a while as I looked at all the detail. I don't know if our discussion on your Arizona had anything to do with it but, I'm really glad you took this one on!
yes after your advice i decided to build this,so your responsible for this sitting in my kitchen the last 5 weeks LOL.very glad i did now as it better than i thought it would be.but taking some amount of pieces, look nice when it sitting next the Arizona, thanks for your interest

Quoting _ Dinos4Ever _ Heh, forgot you were building this. Looking good so far, mate! Good luck! And on a side note; so much hostility towards megablox. Sure, they're the cheap knockoffs, but they make great filler.
yes your right there, the deck is lego as is the windows, fire hydrants, pipes, gun barrels, ladders, hundreds of technic beams, connectors etc, only the grey is megabloks because of the staggering cost of pieces.there is about a 1000 tan pieces used so far on the deck about the same grey flat plates, and as you know it is not cheap, add to the fact i never break my ships up once their built.so it like starting to buy lego from scratch.most people cant tell the difference nowadays,as you can tell from my other ships, there all the same shade of grey LOL.thanks for your comments,
