About this creation
For Round 1 Of Mr Xenomurphy's contest I decided to build in option 3:
"Category 1.3 Fight
Build a vig (min 8 x 8, max 16 x 16) and show us a good fight between good and evil (or good and good or evil and evil). All gadgets are allowed. A reasonable(!) overhang is allowed, like a plant, arm, leg, etc."
I've decided to build a comic shop on a 16x16 base with a 1stud wide black border. I originally planned to use Iron Man for my scene but after casually searching the internet for information on Captain Britain (just out of curiosity), I found information on his wise-cracking bunch of British superheroes known as "Excalibur". I loved the idea of a British variety of X-men so decided to change my entry to fit around them...

Welcome to "The Lucky Rouge's Toys and Serials", whose name wasn't pain-stakingly devised from the bricks with the initials for "LEGO Railway Train System" on them. *shifty eyes*
The greatest comic shop on London, whose mascot is a shadowy gambling hero!

Out to save the day! From left to right we have ShadowCat, NightCrawler, Captain Britain (whose wielding the famous sword Excalibur, who knew if this ever happened :P), Marvel Girl and Meggan.

For this build, I wanted to keep one side undamaged to focus on the architecture, and the other half-obliterated from the fight.

Sorry for the bad picture, I featured the comic shop's interior but sort of forgot tile off the top of the walls so I could remove the roof and take a better picture ;)

Please expand this photo so you can check out the details :)
All the torso decals were created by myself and printed onto decal paper. Please take notice of NightCrawler's tail, it took me a while to devise :)

Here's Doctor Doom, with another custom torso decal, and his Dooms-day device. LASERS!
Thank you very much for taking a look and good luck to all the other competitors!

Your score = 9 > Nice composition, original characters (I confess I had to look them up), abundance of details. I only wish there was just a tiny bit of more "action" there, since it's about fighting. |

Awesome GG! Love it, well done for thinking outside the box and being original. I have seen quite a few predictable creations for this contest already. My money is on you and Joe so far and I'm not being biased ;-) I'd like to enter this contest but I'm a bit of a bird brain at the moment lol Best of luck dude, this is a very neat and interesting build and looks very professional. Love Xenos comment!
That's because me and Joe are amazing ;) Thank you very much Tom! |

I almost put my money on it that one of you cool British lads come up with a Captain Britain MOC. Anglophilic as I am, I love your entry, George. You are into building small, interesting houses at the moment, right? And in addition to that, we get to see some really awesome custom figs. Great work and good luck in the contest.
I knew that no one from any other country would do him, so thought it would be a safe idea :) And I am indeed into building small buildings at the moment, whenever I go out now I'm just constantly looking at architecture and wanted to express my love for it in bricks!
And thank you to everyone else for your kind words! |

Absolutely fantastic, George! I'm so impressed with the detail and accuracy on this build. Did you decal the minifigs? If so, that's just great! Even though I also entered MXSC, you should rightfully at least get into the "Fantastic Four" or "Round 2". Good luck and happy building! ~Fritz |

George, I love how you picked a UK X-team to show your pride! This is a fantastic build and you packed so much into a 16x16 frame. It took me a minute, but I figured out what the blue beam was - The Doom Laser! Best of luck (though I doubt you'll need it). ~Dave |
