Leyka [Bio-Cup 2012: Round 2]
Bio-Cup round two, category 4 - "Winged Rahi: any rahi that has any kind of wings."
About this creation

My opponent is Toa Era
Toa Era's Homepage

I'm satisfied with the result of this MOC. I'm not good with building animals or Rahi and creatures in general. With the category "Winged Rahi" you have a wide chose of things you can build with it. And yet I went for a a simple bird instead of a dragon, pegasus, etc... The wingspan at it's widest is 38cm (3cm larger than allowed). But the wings are almost never that wide open so I hope it is still allowed. Sorry is some of the pictures are a bit unclear, I had a hard time photographing him. Before I forget, he is very limited in movement. The head can turn a little bit and he cannot stand on his two legs, that's why in almost every picture he is in the same position. The wings however are more flexible and can move all around and the "feathers" can open and close.

I do have a little bio for him

The Leyka is a rare and majestic bird living in the Matoran Universe. Its golden wings sparkles and shines when it is touched by sunlight, leaving a golden trace in the sky when it flies. It is said that those who encounter this bird will experience luck and happiness for an entire week.

Those wings are really cool! I've been struggling with a method for an articulated bird wing design and this gives me some good ideas.

Great entry! Nice shape and design, I really like the head and wings. Legs could be a little tad bit better flowing, but nothing serious. My vote is yours.

Actually, it's pretty cool you made a bird instead of something else; those wings look really nice. Its poses in some of the pictures are somewhat lacking, but that's a really minor issue.

Quoting Vorred 03 Great bird! I really like how you made it look realistic, and the wings look great! Is there a Hordika torso you used as his base torso? Great part usage! Good luck in the contest!
Yep, a Hordika torso has many connection points and can be used very easy.
Quoting Steve The Squid Thanks to the bio, its a clear reference to hoh-oh ;) if only those swords came in more colors for you!
All those swords have cost me a lot of money :p Now that you mention it, the description is almost the same as Ho-Oh :p
Quoting L.A. Miranda He he, BIONICLE Ho-oh. Althought the wings are great (I tried to made ones like that, but get all those swords is a bit expensive), my favourite part is the torso. The overall MOC is simple, but totally original and well-worked. I love this bird, good luck! ^^
The whole except the head was easy to build, I'm not good with complex connections and bodies.
Quoting Gringat the Repugnant An amazing and lifelike build - although cleaner and somewhat stylised, it looks a lot like a hornbill. The head is just iconic, and the decoration on the wings does make it seem tribal, to a degree.
Glad you like it
