Lego Technic small telehandler
A small Technic Telehandler. Features: boom lifting, boom extending, lifting the pallet forks, 4-wheel steering, working fake 3-inline motor. COMPLETE BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED!
About this creation

I have bought both the 8283 set and the 8295 set but was not really satisfied with both. The first has only front-axle steering and a heavy boom, the 8295 has a lot of backlash in steering and also a heavy lifting boom. Therefore, I decided to build a smaller one my own. It contains one LA and one mLA to reduce the load. Steering is done via two new gear racks, to reduce the backlash. Of course, the boom had to extend, but with the common system, it would become much to high for such a small vehicle. Therefore I added the sidewards turned gear rack system. You can see this on the photo.

This photo reveals how small the telehandler actually is. Is is small-scale, look to the size of the cabin's seat! One person would just fit in the cabin, but not more. Compare this with the overal size, and stay stunned!

The rear is pretty smooth due to the new Technic panels. Also the two control knobs can be found here, like on the most telehandlers.

The telehandler contains also a 3-inline fake motor, powered by hand because there was no space left to power it via the wheels.

Surprisingly, the small-scale vehicle enlarges itself 3 times! This is only possibly through the very compact sidewards gear-rack sytem, as previously mentioned.

All systems in this small-scale telehandler. Also a non-powerfunctions MOC can be complicated!

It took me 20 hours to build this one with Lego Digital Designer (LDD. I would be surprised if someone wants to build it. You have to connect the LA's and the cabin's soft hoses by your own, because LDD is, concerning that point, a BAD program.

All the wonderful functions. I know it's hard to make a telehandler have all the functions of a real one. I think you did a great job, and I like the sideways gear rack.
