Bio-Cup round three, category 4 - "Hardsuit - a hardsuit/mech for a toa/hero"
About this creation
My opponent is Monarth GS
Monarth GS's Homepage
When I saw the category "Hardsuit" I was so glad I had to build that. Because I really have a hard time if it comes to vehicles. Anyway I based this build on the concept I had with my "T34-Power Suit" with a pilot who controls the hardsuit with all his limbs instead of a mech like my "B7U power suit " MOC. So I took a standard Hero and built a suit around him. The hero can be removed without problems except for the hands with are attached with axles.(Details can be seen in the pictures).
"The Hero Factory engineers were instructed to create a hardsuit for the heroes to wear in emergency situations when there is no time to change their armor in the Assembly Tower. The Mark III suit is their best design for it yet and can already be used in combat situations. The Mark I had no power source and used a hero's core to function. However with a failed experiment the hero which was involved had to undergo a core tranfer. So the Mark II tried to solve that problem but had a really unstable power source and the hero's movements were very limited. But the Mark II got rid of all those problems. It has two plasma power sources, a razor-sharp blade and two plasma shooters. It also enhances the hero's strenght, speed because the hero doesn't need to rely much on his hero core. With the latest breakout the suits have done really well and have been proven to work even better than expected."

This truly is awesome!!!
This is the very creation that caused me to add you as a favorite.
I am speechless as to how smooth the overall design is.
If you ever have time drop by my page and leave a comment. |

Now this was a very close call for me. While in one hand your MOC has a very good build, a cool clean design and is really polished and functional, on the other, your opponent's entry just stands out more. So yeah, my vote is for him. |

There are certain technical aspects of your entry that I favor over your opponent. Specifically, working in this scale must have presented a lot of technical challenges and you seem to have met them without compromise between form and function, and you succeeded in giving this the aspect of something that could actually exist, resembling more the exoskeleton from Aliens than a fantasy mecha. It's just that compared to your opponent's entry, which is almost as technically sound and many times scarier, it looks quite unimpressive. You forgot the "wow" factor. I vote for him. |

Overall, this creation looks great however I have to vote only for the vehicle/suit if it can stand and look good on its own. Unfortunately, it lacks the complexity of your opponent. I have to vote for him. |

Well done! I really like your hardsuit, and at this point none of our votes are going to be easy, so even though you did well I think that in the overall picture your opponent topped you. My vote is his. |

Cute, but when I think of a hard-suit I like to think BIG. Like those mechs from the Matrix big. Your opponent had the right idea xD Don't be discouraged by the size of your opponent's entry though. You have a clear distinction between pilot and suit.
Now that's where I think different. When I think of a hardsuit I think small, like a suit that only covers the person wearing it. With not that many weapons and of course not much bigger the the person wearing it. Anything larger is no more a hardsuit to me but just a large mecha. Of course everybody sees this different as I can much on flickr. |

Well done, well done indeed. I really like how the suit is very compact, yet functional. Best of luck, my entry will be posted tomorrow. |

Fantastic job, particularly on the torso. It's nice to see a hardsuit that actually houses a complete character. |

Ah this is excellent! Very reminiscent of the Exo-Toa (my favorite Bionicle set). The use of classic Technic paneling with HF is brilliant. Can't wait to see Monarth's entry. |
