This must be fourth version I did of this truck and I guess the final one since it's here. I wanted to to do this truck because I love how the real Volvo FMX looks like but I wanted to make an off road version of it. A trial truck race version and this time I finally got the functions right. First 3 times I made this truck I made it with differential lock that Sariel invented. A brilliant thing except whenever I blocked the differential it's gears practically exploded during some obstacle it was supposed to get over. No, I don't blame the guy. I blame myself because I couldn't get the construction tough enough for it to bare. Now this final version of mine is modular. Which means both transaxles with differentials can be removed and replaced by the same looking transaxles without the differential. It's not just that. The cockpit cabin is removable as well as the bumper with lights and loading space in the back. That makes every part of the vehicle very accessible without having to dismantle the whole thing to access a certain part of it. The film is there just to show that it works. It hasn't been tested on the dirt and rocks yet but as soon as there is some sort of Trial Truck race here in Zagreb I will post the film to see how it's doing. For now it drives with differentials because I drive it at home only, where everything's flat and I have no suitable surfaces that could show it's potential so I am a bit worried at what will happen to the gears if leave the diff out.
About this creation
The real thing and my version. Of course I made it to be a custom made off road version even though the original is pretty much a heavy worker.
I wanted all to be LEGO so all of the stickers are LEGO stickers but I wandered what can I put behind and then I remembered that a couple of years ago I bought an old huge pirate boat set for about 20 dollars and the cloth from it fitted into the whole concept just fine :))
It's got a 2 speed system and speed can be changed by the switch. Yes, I could've done it by remote if only I had one more PF remote sensor. Go figure but that doesn't concern me much so the switch it is. The gear tends to shift itself to idle when some tough obstacle comes so I just made it impossible to do so by making the engine and a couple of gears hold it.
Suspension on this truck is pendular as seen on the pic

Wow! That's one cool trial truck :) PF motorized vehicles are quite new to me...but I'm about to start filming my first PF streetracer :)
well, cool. Let's see it then :)) Thanx for the comment!

Whoa! Now this is a fantastic technic truck, sturdy, but very good-looking! The cloth is a cool idea. Great functions, too. Deserves much more likes.

Very nice looking Volvo. I like the old school wheels. I think it has some great technic features. One thing tho, differentials suck for crawling over rocks and stuff. I would suggest using the non differential axles all the way. Good job!
THanx for the comment. And yes, I am a big fan of old-school wheels because they look husky and by looks they look like the wheels for a truck. As for differential I know that but they are quite fine when I use these on not so hard obstacles and besides for now I drive it at home where everything is flat and I don't want to bust mu transaxles. When I get it outside I am switching the transaxles surely ;))
