Yep, that above is the first thing I posted when I made my new MOCpages account let's see if I've gotten any better along the way. :)
About this creation
Well I at first wasn't going to do a MOCiversary because I wasn't really active on MOCpages when my 1-year mark came and went. But when I realized you can post belated MOCiversary-s I decided I owed it to all of you guys to commemorate April 10th, 2011. The day that I joined MOCpages.
Now I'm going to do something a little different. I'm going to do a picture of all the MOCs I've done (in order) and say a little something about each one. So... yeah, this might get a little long.
MOC 1: Rainbow Sphere. April 10, 2011.
My first MOC. though this really isn't a MOC because I just built it off instructions from the unofficial's builders guide. And yes those are Megabloks. ...I was young and I hadn't sorted anything in my collection.
MOC 2: Customized Minifig Guns. April 10, 2011.
Well as you can see I wasn't what you would call a 'Purist'. I cut off a butt of a rifle, crazy glued it to the back of a Tommy Gun, and stuck a sharpied technic half-pin on the end of it. Don't ask me what I was thinking, just appreciate that I've changed.
MOC 3: Robot's and Astros and Droids, Oh My! April 11, 2011.
More glue, more sharpies.
MOC 4: 4x4x4 Entry. April 13, 2011.
My first Contest entry. I think I started to get a 'little bit' better at this point. I believe this is the first time I had my sister take the pictures for me (Thank you). And you can see I'm at least trying to have somewhat of a background.
MOC 5: Sean Kenney Car Models. April 21, 2011
I made these models off of Sean Kenney's so the only parts that are really a MOC are the trailer and part of the front of the Semi Truck. What's cool about this is Sean Kenney himself actually commented on it, which was a pretty big ego boost for me.
MOC 6: Lego Batman Movie. April 21, 2011.
This was a good try for my first stop-action animation. Granted the builds are weak, the frame rate's bad, and the lighting toward the end was horrible, I still sort of like this because I got to show some of my humor in a MOC. I might or might not do another animation in the future.
MOC 7: Sean Kenney Robot Models And More. April 25, 2011.
Sort of a sequel I guess. What's better about this one is that I added in some of my own robot designs in this, So at least some original-ness.
MOC 8: Quick Star Wars Vignette. April 27, 2011.
I did this to sort of test out if I could edit in a lightsaber, which is good because I used that editing knowledge to make...
MOC 9: UFO Invasion! May 9, 2011.
Not much in the way of build, what you do see is mostly reused from earlier MOCs. But I just covered that up with lots of editing. Hmm.
MOC 10: Overdone Minifig Contest Entry 1. May 19, 2011.
I made this for a contest Timinater did. Sorta lame landscaping I did.
MOC 11: Steampunk Hovercar. May 22, 2011
Now if I can only figure out how to do more MOCs like this! This one I had a lot of fun trying to build because I was building off of imagination. Plus I got to add some Greeble-goodness.
MOC 12: My (Sorted) Collection Pt. 1. May 22, 2011
Another non-MOC, just something to show that I now had my entire collection sorted (though not all the Megabloks sorted out yet) and how I sorted it.
MOC 13: My (Sorted) Collection Pt. 2. May 24, 2011.
Just to let you guys know, I now have most of my collection in clear plastic containers and drawers.
MOC 14:Overdone Minifig Contest Entry 2. May 24, 2011.
Ummm.... Yeah.... Next!
MOC 15: Mission Impossible. May 25, 2011.
This seemed to get up in my most popular for quite a long time. Even though there are no interesting techniques, it has a continuity problem, and most of the walls are made from Megabloks. But, whatever.
MOC 16: Destroyer Droid. June 2, 2011.
I believe I was just playing around with some pieces and then this was thrown together. ...When are we going to get to the 'Good' MOCs?
MOC 17: Lego 'The Far Side' Comics 1. July 23, 2011.
Ah, yes. Not exactly 'Good' but pretty fun. I hope to do more of these sometime.
MOC 18: Build Your Own 50 cal. July 25, 2011.
For this one I tried doing an instruction MOC and had a bit of fun writing it up where I was a teacher in a classroom. I bet one of these guns would go great in a zombie MOC.
MOC 19: Super Mario Galaxy. August 22, 2011.
Yes this build is simple but for some reason it seems to fit for Lego Mario. So I guess sometimes: STUDS = GOOD.
MOC 20: Never Bring a Knife to a Gun Fight. August 24, 2011.
Built for a contest on eXtreme TFOLs. This MOC has the first appearance of my Sig Fig and I remember this being one of my favorite MOCs for a while.
MOC 21: Lego 'The Far Side' Comics 2. August 29, 2011.
Though the first comic looks good I realize that I've skimped out of the builds of the rest of them. And in case you're wonder what the text of the comic is, its: "Here Fifi! C'mon!...Faster Fifi!"
MOC 22: September 11th. September 11th, 2011
Built in honor of those that died that day.
MOC 23: Summer. September 12, 2011.
Ah, the MOColympics. What an excitement that was. A short lived excitement. :) Also around this time is when I joined Bricklink. Now if I'd only had enough money to finish covering up those studs.
MOC 24: Parade! October 5, 2011.
Since I didn't make it to Round 2 of the MOColympics I joined the MIT. I learned a pretty cool technique to make the top part of the float using hinge bricks.
MOC 25: Podracer. October 20, 2011.
Round 2 of the MIT and I lost. But I feel somewhat comforted by the fact that Flare was knocked out of that round too. :) But I see why I was.
MOC 26: Cuban Contest 2011. November 1, 2011.
The Cuban Craze! I enetered into the Cuban contest and had to build myself in Cuban form. I think I did a pretty good job, though I would've liked to make my hair dark brown like my Siggy.
MOC 27: 4-Piece Top. November 8, 2011.
For Yuri's Top contest I made this. Pretty simple, but it worked really well.
MOC 28: Table Scrapes. November 9, 2011.
The Pizza and large Lego® Brick were actually supposed to be for my Parade in the MIT. But they arrived late so I had to improvize. I'm just glad I was still able to show them anyway.
MOC 29: Day 1. November 9, 2011.
My collectible minifig project! My best way to have people add me as a favorite builder. Actually I'm planning on doing another series of them soon! :)
MOC 30: Day 2. November 11, 2011.
There was a glitch with my sister's camera so I had to post this a day later than I would have liked to. This is also the first time I use an angled gravity technique, you'll see a couple more in the rest of the series.
MOC 31: Cubans x3. November 11, 2011.
Cuban Day struck MOCpages like a... thing... that was ... struck.
MOC 32: Day 3. November 12, 2011.
I like those old monkeys. The new chimps? Not so much.
MOC 33: Day 4. November 13, 2011.
My first 'rock work'. I suppose I did an alright job. It does look like the snowboarder is just about to fall.
MOC 34: Day 5. November 14, 2011.
Probably some added plates to give some more realistic land would make this look better.
MOC 35: SteamPunk Top. November 15, 2011.
Another entry to Yuri's contest. I'm not quite sure what makes it steampunk, maybe barrels it's made of or just the color choices. Whatever.
MOC 36: Day 6. November 15, 2011.
I like how the scale of this makes King Kong look the right size. :)
MOC 37: Day 7. November 17, 2011.
Soon after I posted this I got spammed with likes, but what's interesting is that it would still be my most popular.
MOC 38: Day 8. November 18, 2011
That minifig is the first collectible I've collected. He's the one that started it. :)
MOC 39: Day 9. November 20, 2011.
Love that raised eyebrow.
MOC 40: Day 10. November 21, 2011.
One of my favorites, I especially like his pipe.
MOC 41: Cuban Contest 2011: Round 2. November 21, 2011.
I like the different color mixtures in this. "Gobbble, gobble, gobble."
MOC 42: Day 11. November 21, 2011.
Fun Fact: If you look real close to the second picture I did in the post for day 11 you can see the face of the woman answering the door is pretty angry.
MOC 43: Day 12. November 23, 2011.
This build is actually a lot more complicated than it looks. It has upside down building, technic half-pins, and the angled gravity that I mentioned earlier.
MOC 44: Day 13. November 24, 2011.
With this one I tried to add some special lighting that Leda sometimes does, and I like how it came out. :)
MOC 45: Day 14. November 25, 2011.
Another gravity technique like Day 12. But when taking pictures we could never get the color of the dark red tiles to look right.
MOC 47: Day 16. November 28, 2011.
The final one. I had added some familiar Sig faces in the crowd but you can't see them in any of the pictures. But you're welcome to try and imagine who's in it.
MOC 48: All Together Now! November 30, 2011.
I guess this post was sort of closure for the project. Ha, here I am, reminiscing in a post about a post that I was reminiscing in. It's like Inception!
MOC 49: eXtreme TFOLs. December 6, 2011.
I made this for a new logo contest in eXtreme TFOLs and WON! Hooray me! Those minifigs in it are the Admins and Moderators the group had at that time.
MOC 50: TRON: Lego-cy. December 19, 2011.
Ha, this is my half-century. It figures 'cause this MOC really opened me up to microscale building. Plus it's so cute to imagine the little lightcycles racing around the board.
MOC 51: Oh No, It's UFOs! December 19, 2011.
This and the previous MOC were built for a 200 pieces or less contest run by LukeClarenceVan the Revanchist. It won the contest and is (as of right now) in my most popular section. :)
MOC 52: MOC Speed Contest Round 1: Stuck. December 27, 2011.
I remember the MOC speed contest fondly. It really made me bring my A-Game for me to make it to the final round. Plus it was fun having to build a MOC as fast as you can.
MOC 53: MOC Speed Contest Round 2: Kingdoms Joust. January 2, 2012.
I think I have the most fun with microscale, it seems that most of my more popular ones are microscale so I might be sort of good at it too. My favorite parts of this MOC were the little horses I made. So cute!
MOC 54: MOC Speed Contest Round 3: Roller Coaster. January 9, 2011.
I sure wish I would've done more with the landscaping of this but when you lose a point from each judge for everyday you don't post, it really put's on the pressure to post quickly.
MOC 55: Table Scraps. January 10, 2012.
Just some odds and ends I had no place for. I actually did use a siding technique I had in that post for a large house I made, but never posted.
MOC 56: MOC Speed Contest Round 4: MOCster Truck. January 17, 2012.
This is my second most favorite MOC at this time. Not only is it a pretty cool monster truck, it also has a really cool teaser pic for the main pic. This is also the first time I've used brick lettering.
MOC 57: MOC Speed Contest Round 5: My Torture Chamber. January 24, 2012.
The final round, and I lost. But I can see why because I seemed to skimp out on the builds. Also it looks like I've wasted four easy payments of $19.95. lol
MOC 58: Silent But Deadly. January 30, 2012.
Built for a MOC-off with James Mckinnon, (the guy that beat me in round 2 of the MIT) and lost again. I tried to be minimalistic by only doing one photo and that seemed to hurt me. But that room was really nicely detailed.
MOC 59: Official Sig Fig. Febuary 1, 2012.
My Siggy was in need of a remake as soon as I saw that spikey hair. :)
MOC 60: Titanium Tyrant. February 2, 2012.
Another MOC that I had no real idea of where it was going, almost like 'Improv-building' and I like how it turned out.
MOC 61: Montana Smith vs. the Ninjas. March 28, 2012.
The MOCathalon. I really like this one because of different types of landscaping I was putting into it.
MOC 62: LegoLand. March 28, 2012.
I think I had a pretty good idea here with the pieces I used for the roller coaster rails, but besides that it didn't get much better. :(
MOC 63: Time Warp. March 30, 2012
This was actually going to be a long story spoof of that Calvin and Hobbes comic where calvin goes forward in time to collect the homework that he was supposed to do. But about halfway through the photo-shoot I realized I wouldn't have enough time finish it before the deadline so I had to come up with a new idea on the fly. Now I still have half of a story that I don't know what to do with.
MOC 64: Fairy Tale. March 30, 2012.
Sort of the same story with this since I didn't have enough time to do the story I wantd. Also I think it took around 5 bricklink orders to get all the pieces for this one shot. "Now what am I going to do with 60 reddish brown 4L bars?"
MOC 65: Spiderman vs Sandman (Micro). June 25, 2012.
As you can tell from the date of this I was pretty inactive after the MOCathalon because of a play I was writing and performing at some libraries, and also a temporary job I had. During that time I would sort of mess around with this WIP of what was going to be the Elephant and the Fly category in the MOCathalon, but the pieces arrived late. This is (at this time) my favorite MOC, probably because I can see it in comparison to the original and see how close it is. This MOC included a lot of different techniques I had to come up with just for this.
MOC 66: M.X.S.C. R1: Paper ALWAYS Covers Rock. July 8, 2012.
I really just built this just for fun and wasn't expecting to get very high in the first round. Fun fact: in the window of Joe's Diner (or "OE'S") you can see a frowning guy looking out the window. I guess he's a fan of Sinestro.
MOC 67: MOCiversary (Late). August 03, 2012.
Alright, here's my wrap-up. It's been almost 1 year and 4 months since I've joined MOCpages and since then I've had a lot of fun. I started out as a Rainbow-Warrior, amateur customizer, and became what I am today. So I want to thank Sean Kenney for starting this site, and everyone who's taken the time to comment on a creation of mine, 'Like' it, or even added me as a favorite builder. Thank you, it means a lot.
So next time you see a newbie to MOCpages and think: 'Oh no, a rainbow warrior.' or 'A Clone Kiddie.' or 'another Halo n00b.' Just remember, everyone has their beginnings and they sometimes don't start off that great, but people can change for the better. Just look at me and my first MOC.
Alright I think I've been sappy enough for today. Give yourself a pat on the back for reading all of this. And you haven't read it all: STRAIGHT BACK TO THE START WITH YOU! I mean it! Do not pass Go! Do not collect $200! You Cheater! CHEATER!
Dude! You've so improved! :D Congrats man on the late MOCiversary! Its never too late to have a MOCiversary :P You're a much better builder than I thought you were, I guess I haven't been paying enough attention to your MOCs :P. I'd say... You've even drastically improved since the MOC Speed Contest! Awesome man! See you around :)
Why is it that I have never favorited you? This stuff is fantastic! I like what you did by just sharing every MOC you've uploaded, quite different than the long commentaries with bad builds that show not much growth. I loved it. Here I come, making your followers list one number higher! :)
Hey man, Congratulations! I've been on here about 5 months after you, and I saw you after half of the time I was on here! I'm glad you're one of those builders that people talk about: "Aw, y'know that guy Quad?" And they go: "Yeah, isn't he AWESOME?" Instead of, "Y'know that guy Zeke225?" (Random mad up person, nobody real) And they go, "Who??" But, it's been Great to have you here! God Bless ~ Mr.Doo
