My large scale Venator Class (Star destroyer) Republic Attack Cruiser - Elizabeth Sladen
About this creation
In a hurry to get the engines figured out and built. To be on schedule for Brick Con at this point, they need to be built by Sept 15 at the latest for integration by end of month.
This model now how most of the top structure roughed in. I am just about to start work on the underside as that seems to be the next most complicated part. Not really liking how the main bay doors are done. I actually made sliding rails so the doors could part on top, but I think the mechanism makes the door too thick.
First test build of the side panels. I just ordered a bunch of dark bluish grey plates to do the sides and then I will coat with the dark plates with light bluish grey greebles. I'm really liking that side bay door though
Adding trim to the base of the command pylon.
New top hull with 2 x 4 wedge plates creates what looks like the best profile. Expensive though as Lego doesn't make 2x4 wedge plates anymore. I even called the factory and tried to negotiate firing up the mold for a special run. Lego was unconvinced.
I suffered this head injury while working underneath the main truss. It was heavy enough that it decided not to move when stood up to quickly.
You can see the original command pylon in this photo. It didn't look quite right in terms of the porportions so I blew it up and started over.
The second iteration of the top hull panel. This on used 3 x 6 wing plates to set the angle. After it was done it made the ship too wide. I don't have pictures of it, but I then tried a fourth attempt to make the top plate using 3 x 12 wings, on the inner and outer edge. This looked interesting, but it wasn't that much better.
More Diet Pepsi...Stat!
Roughing together some angles. This ship is all about the angles. It is funny how you can go from "ah that's cute" to looking like a bona-fide perpetrator of bad-assery over an angle of about 15 degrees.
Hi Rich! I love what you are creating there. I'm currently busy building my own ventator. It will be about the same size as the one from Iomedes. The only problem that I'm having are the engines, I just can't figure out how to build them like you did. Could you sent me some pictures with the different steps to build them. (firstname.lastname@example.org) I would really appreciate it!
