Ilyushin Il-102/VL-1300 Foxtiger
The new ground attack aircraft of the Imperial Lego Air Force
About this creation

My latest MOC represents an llyushin IL-102 ground attack aircraft with some modifications in the armament, wings and systems. In the Imperial Lego Air Force, it’s known as the VL-1300 “Foxtiger”. I will later build the Soviet plane, with a different wing and Soviet Markings.

VL-1300
The Vila Disparador VL-1300 (Reporting Name: "Foxtiger") is a single-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft developed in the Lego Empire and designed to provide close air support for the Imperial Lego Ground Forces.
The Foxtiger is designed to be refueled, rearmed, and serviced with minimal equipment. Also, most repairs can be done in the field. If runways are damaged in an attack, the plane can operate from taxiways, straight roadway sections or even grass fields. The Foxtiger is probably, the toughest aircraft in the world, being capable to survive direct hits from armor-piercing and high-explosive projectiles up to 40 mm. The crew cockpits, engines, fuel tanks and control systems are armored to protect against ground fire.
The aircraft can operate almost all the light and medium ground attack armament used by the Imperial Lego Air Force and the “Aviação Naval Imperial” (Imperial Navy Aviation). Although not built to operate from aircraft carriers, the VL-1300 Foxtiger made a series of highly successful tests on board the Imperial Navy Aircraft Carriers. However, it failed to secure any orders from the navy.

IL-102 (from Wikipedia)

In 1967, the Soviet Air Forces drew up a specification for a jet-powered shturmovik or armoured ground attack aircraft. While Sukhoi designed an all-new single seat aircraft, the Su-25, Ilyushin proposed a modified version of their Il-40 of 1953 under the designation Il-42, which unlike the Sukhoi was a two seat aircraft with a remotely controlled rear gun turret. The design was rejected by the Soviet Air Forces, but Ilyushin decided to continue development as a private venture, renaming the programme Il-102.
The Il-102 first prototype flew on 25 September 1982, with a second airframe built for static tests, and carried out 250 test flights until it was grounded in 1984 when the engine life expired.

The Il-102 was a low-winged monoplane with moderately swept (30 degrees) wings and powered by two Klimov RD-33I turbofans (non-afterburning versions of the engines that power the Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter). It was highly unusual for its time in having a rear gun turret, something not seen in ground attack aircraft since the World War II Il-2 Shturmovik and Il-10, the Il-102's spiritual ancestors, controlled remotely by a gunner sitting in a cockpit above the trailing edge of the wing. The crew cockpits, engines and fuel tanks were armoured to protect against ground fire.

Although development was abandoned in 1984, the prototype Il-102 was publicly unveiled at the 1992 Mosaeroshow air show at Zhukovsky, being claimed to be available for export. As of 2005, the prototype was mounted on a pedastal and was placed on display at the Gromov Flight Research Institute.

Quoting The Crazy, Baffled and Cunffuzzled Brit who calls himself Monseuir de la King de la Powerful de la Prime de la Minster de la Shcuz-Shcuz™ AKA Ross el Grandê de Crãckföx As Bricks said, one of the greatest real-world aircraft on the 'pages. I have noticed one error, however. On the statistics for both versions, you have forgotten the decimal, so it reads "Length: 175m, Wingspan: 169m" instead of "Length: 17.5m, Wingspan: 16.9m"
It´s only a small mistake

Quoting Broken Bricks This is possibly the best small aircraft I've seen on these pages, the wings and body work flow into each other nearly seamlessly. Also, the vast array of weapons and bombs that you have made is quiet amazing! great work!
