It's Father Christmas! A creation for all you Narnia fans! I've seen it said several times: "MOCpages needs more Narnia MOCs!" Well, here's my contribution! This build was pretty much my summer project, in regards to Lego. I spent hours upon hours dabbling in technique designing the beavers, the reindeer, and the sleigh. Also, as landscapes aren't my forte, the rest of the build proved to be just as challenging. Near the end I was really scrapping the bins for the right white/light-blay pieces. I definitely think the work payed off though! My apologies for the soft pictures.
About this creation
After designing all the figs, brick-built animals, and the sleigh, I was at quite a loss on how to do the actual build. Special thanks to Lee Muzzy and Chris Baldacci for feeding me a few ideas. Chris suggested including the cave, which really inspired me.

The characters (from left to right): Mr. Beaver, Peter, Mrs. Beaver (hiding in the cave), Lucy, Susan, and (up above) Father Christmas. I was cast as Mr. Beaver in a play once, so he's got a special place in my heart!

Father Christmas and his gift laden sleigh.

Sleigh tracks!

The build minus the figs.

The reindeer: I'm really happy with how he turned out, although he's suppose be brown, doh! -not to be confused with doe- Leave it to me to get my facts twisted!

I almost used a trans-red stud for his nose.
Ha...ha...ha...

Father Christmas's sleigh: I think out of all the technique presented, this was the most complex to design. Needless to say, it's my favorite part of the MOC.

Ho...ho...ho...

The mini-figs with their accessories (from left to right): Father Christmas (with his sack on his back), Peter (with his sword and shield), Susan (with her horn and bow and arrows), and Lucy (with her dagger and bottle of cordial).
Mr. and Mrs. Beaver!

The beaver design (below):

I'm more of a LotR guy (surprise, surprise, haha), but I'm also open to Narnia, although C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien didn't like each other in the end. But this is about cool LEGOŽ creations and this is definitely one. Your favourite part of the MOC is also mine, Ian. Excellent shape. |

I second your call for more Narnia MOCs! This is a fantastically presented scene, and well worth the time you put into it - everything is spot on but of course the sleigh and reindeer stand out. What is the part you used for the beavers' torsos? Is it Hagrid's beard?
The beaver's torso piece is Frodo's hair, from the LOTR sets. Thanks for leaving a comment! |

This was a brave move to try to make a scene with beavers deer snow and making it true to the movie, frankly... You nailed it, apart the reindeer being white and beavers being cyclopses (is that a word?) it was quite simple and recongisible at first glance but at a closer look every detail was brilliantly thought through.
stunning.
I can see how the black cylinder could be mistaken for an eye, thus appearing "cyclopesish". It's actually meant to be the nose, and the two holes in the side of the head are suppose to serve as the eyes. Figured I might as well explain my vision, just in case anyone else was also seeing beaver-like cyclopses! =D Thanks for commenting! Really appreciate it! |

Smooth landscaping, clean animals, and perfect minifigs (aside from lucy's hair and Susan's head). Great work! By the way, you totally stole my horn idea. I was going to use it for the horn of Gondor. Great Job!
Thanks Max! As for the horn, what more can I say? Great minds my dear chap, great minds...You should still totally use the technique though. "Was going to" is not an option, unless you have a better plan B. |

Yep, those good old days when Narnia and LOTR were the pinnacles of Medieval fantasy. Is the BBC production the one with the very large and human-like beavers? Hehe, them low budget films. Thanks for commenting Ru! Nice to see you still exist! =D |
